I dug out my Stetson JP Whippet today for errands. I purchased this one from the Stetson Outlet in 2017. At this time they were still "prototypes" and had not gone into full production. It is a testament to Matt Deckard and his time at Stetson. I know there is a story behind this revival of the classic Whippet, maybe he will share. The JP Whippet has all the bells and whistles of a fine hat of the past.

Wearing my stetson Bantam this morning has me contemplating the origin of Bantam. Stetson Bantam is named after? (1) Small aggressive fowl. (2) Bantam providence in Java, Indonesia. (3) Short for bantamweight - a level of amateur sport typically involving children aged between 13 and 15. (4) Motorcar in 1913. (4) Bantamweight - class in boxing for boxers who weigh above 115 pounds (52.2 kg) and up to 118 pounds (53.5 kg). I suspect it "weights" in on the lightweight boxing catagory.

Advertising - Stetson Imperial Bantam Hat magazine advertising says "Lighter than air." Trademarked in 1934 (https://trademark.trademarkia.com/the-stetson-bantam-71349693.html)

Great unlined lightweight felt hat for a rainy cool morning.

The third of my trio of hats via Stefan. My favourite of the three, though I love them all. A Borsalino Qualità Speciale. Great shape, colour, feel of the felt, ribbon treatment, and overall look. Borsalino at its best imo.

You look a bit chilly in the first pic, Steve. Other than that: close enough to perfect.

After three days of continuous rain, a semi flooding of the garages and a terrible cold, today the sun has come to dry Italy

Have a nice day!
Thanks for showing your hats, they were a good remedy, between one sneeze and another
Hope you'll recover soon, Daniele. The hat should help. The Barbisio shark gill bow is beyond compare.

How far can a man travel on appearance? Terrific '45 Esquire advertisement by Stetson.

The ad copy shows an Alpine Blue Stratoliner fedora. Stetson retailed a powder blue Stratoliner in the same decade. This morning I was out and about in a Cadet Blue Premier Stratoliner from a similar time period. The under-brim pic better showcases the felt hue. This unlined blue hat I have had on my hat rack for a few years and it is a fav to wear.

This Premier version of the Stratoliner has brim dimensions of 2 .5".

I do not wear the pin on the hat. In a strong wind the pin (attached to the bow) bangs on the hat crown. During the winter I will have to reattach it.

"A hat made for traveling." Best, Eric -

Very cool, love that ad. That Cadet Blue is amazing.

I have this one from a Sept 1941 issue of Life, and a Strat that was made in Nov, 1941. I'm framing it for a display. Wish it was for my color though.
