I was not on the lookout for three more black hats... but a threefer including Crofut & Knapp and a Dunlap space/weight at a price I could not pass up... well... they are on their way.

Buying in bulk now, Joe? You've got the bug!

Ha Stefan! [emoji1787] Been infected for a bit now.... For this I do not believe there is a cure.

As for these... it was your Space/weight Dunlap that you posted the other day that had me curious what the felt was like. This one sadly does not have the beautiful space themed liner and pin as yours. And I’ve wanted to add a Crofut and Knapp ever since I just missed on a beautiful older one about a year ago because I was just a tad too cheap. [emoji38] This one is I believe a much more recent one with a really stingy Cav brim. It’s Almost same as the Cavanagh I got a few weeks back. So we shall see which ones get to stick around.

Best,
Joe

Happy with this one. Came in last night.
76 bucks , including shipping. More than I would usually pay for a late fifties 2 1/4 brim. A clean and shape made it look brand new. I needed a dark brown hat since giving away one of my forties Stetsons to my older brother. He wears it everyday, so it makes me proud.

Some interesting claims on this one. All beaver? And "John Grady" is a hat model made by Texas Hatters, not a guy making hats for Texas Hatters.

Dad collected a lot of hats of varying sizes that are hardly or "ever" worn. Interesting that Dad's collection has continued to grow a bit during the clearout, with some appearing to be fairly recent etsy or bay purchases. I checked his sales for awhile but stopped some time ago.

I asked him a couple of weeks ago why a hat, which came in a non-matching box with a receipt from a Florida retailer, had markings from a Havana hat shop on the sweat (he was listing it as a 1925 hat originally purchased in Florida). He claimed it was from 1925 because the receipt had a date of "10/25."

He never answered the question.

YES....and DAD Does seem to have worn quite a range of sizes!!!!!!!!:eek::eek::eek::eek:
Perhaps he shaved his head once a year for the small sizes and let it grow the rest of the time.....changing up a hat size as needed while it grew back in....:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:
