What’s with the lack of What’s for Dinner posts? I enjoy seeing what others are having for dinner.
:D
I had refried beans with sausage and green chilis, topped with shredded cheddar cheese, and shoveled in with warm flour tortillas.

Last night was spaghetti night, only I put the sauce over macaroni noodles instead of spaghetti noodles because my two youngest children make less of a mess that way.

I do a version of that flour tortilla thing as a snack decently often for a snack after work.

I finally brought out the cook book I got when we sorted out my deceased grand mother's stuff.

Spent all morning cooking, gratin roast veal, Roquefort bechamel, glazed carrots with orange and whisky and "pommes dauphines". Way worth the amount of time in the kitchen!

I’ve recently discovered a red meat bargain. The sirloin steak. Normally I am a ribeye only guy. No bone either. I want the fat. All of it. But the humble sirloin, if cut properly, cast iron skillet fried in bacon grease and butter makes for a really satisfying and truly affordable cut. So tonight, I had a pair of sirloins, fried Brussels sprouts (also bacon grease and a load of salt and pepper) and smashed red potatoes.
A good warm up for Thursday’s championship bout.

Watching a cooking show on our cable..."Michael Bonacini" a chef that has multiple restaurants in Toronto. He has a 15 episode series where in each he profiles an area of Italy and cooks a menu of dishes from that region.

He is brilliant. The dishes are simple yet elegant and so far we have watched just 3 episodes and have compiled a list of 6 recipes to cook. Last night we cooked a radicchio and asiago cheese risotto. It was very very good. Tonight we do a peppered beef dish.

Thanksgiving dinner with family, also celebrated the birthdays of my youngest son and my uncle, 9 and 84 respectively. We had turkey, ham, cornbread dressing, cranberry sauce, sweet potato casserole, macaroni & cheese, turnip greens, pumpkin pie, banana pudding, coconut cake, and chocolate cake. Now all I need is a nap.

It's a post Thanksgiving tradition at my house to make jambalaya with the last of the leftover turkey....only this year there wasn't any so I stopped by the market and got a few pounds of shrimp fresh from the gulf to make some with. No one complained about the lack of turkey in it.

Last night, barbecue chicken, garlic fries, and a couple of Negra Modelos on tap. A great evening with family and I ran into a group of ex students from almost twenty years ago. It was great chatting with them and seeing that they were happy and doing well. Time flies by so quickly.
