(As for the M65, I wouldn't hold your breath - I was told at Aero that Ken had set a firm '1959' cut-off date for their designs, so. Silvermans in the UK do one under their own house label, GTH: https://www.silvermans.co.uk/products/gth-leather-m65-jacket?variant=4194708355 - though I'm not personally convinced it's a style that works in leather.)

Thanks for that information. I hadn't heard of Silvermans before. It's too bad they only offer it in black. I think my dream leather M65 would be in Aero's battered tan CXL FQHH.

Tried to take some selfies while I was out wearing the Wayfarer earlier today. It's starting to get less stiff and developing character. I really love how it looks on me.

I actually spec’d that label in my bootlegger 2.0. I saw it on a page of Aero label options. It’s a great label.

I think my first post on TFL was a WTB in the Classifieds for a Wayfarer jacket. That was all the way back in 2014. I really had my heart set on one just like the one pictured on Aero's website, in dark tumbled cordovan FQHH with a lot of grain, you know the one:

90655420a43f4119_WAYFARER-500[1].jpg 772534bc5a129380_TC%20WYFR%20collar[1].jpg

It wasn't for three years later that I finally bought the first Wayfarer, in heavy Brown CXL FQHH, which I still have, and is a favorite jacket.

Then, earlier this year, TFL member andyone had a 42 in Cherry FQHH that he wanted to trade for one in brown or black. I was interested in it, but let it go, as I didn't want to trade my jacket for his. It ended up going to GW KY, and I mentioned to him that if it didn't work out, to let me know. I didn't expect anything to come of it, but a few days ago he messaged me, asking if I was still interested.

Cash was the deal. I pulled the trigger this time, no hesitation, and it arrived UPS today.

I don't know what the difference is between "cherry" and "cordovan", the colors are very similar. The leather does actually have a bit of a cherry scent to it, which is subtle, yet intoxicating. This jacket is absolutely what I was hoping for when I was dreaming of my Wayfarer in 2014. It's nice and grainy, a lot like what's pictured on Aero's website. It's fully broken in, not stiff, and feels exactly like I wanted the leather to feel like: weighty, thick, but pliable, and when I throw it on the couch when I take it off, it lands with a satisfying "fwap".

Tagged a 42, the jacket is just slightly more snug through the chest than my 44 in Brown, and the sleeves are just slightly shorter, but fall right to where they should on me. I'd say the fit is very good, if not outstanding. Pockets are lined with moleskin, including the one left-hand inside pocket, while the lining is cotton twill. I love how it feels on me, and if anything I have to say it looks even better. This is absolutely a keeper.

This is a picture I took with my cell phone in indoor lighting with correct light balance. The color is pretty accurate. A deep purply brown with a decent amount of red in it. Just look at that grain. Look at the drape.

It's really amazing to get something so close to exactly what you wanted after so many years.

That looks great! And it's amazing how jackets travel around the world - more than most of us at the moment :)

First owner of this jacket was @58panheadfan :)

A good batch of cherry CXL, like you have there is so incredibly beautiful. I almost went with many times but got scared because some jackets I saw looked very tomato red. The sample Carrie sent me was the most beautiful mahogany, burnt cherry. That’s a stunner you have there. That model has been on my mind for a long time too.
