Great idea for a thread Randall. Your recreation pic looks a bit like the before photo of a floor repair though.

Early 1980s. This was my Grandfather's hat.

Same hat. Worse for wear (and that goes for both of us).

Now that's cool!

Hey, Rockwater, nice pic! Your Pop looks great in the Woolrich and I like your pre-war vintage guitar and hat! [emoji3]
Looks as if you were even able to hold a correct two fingered A chord!!

Thanks, Pop wore a fedora everyday of his life. When it was no longer suitable for the office, it went fishing. Definitely a guy to emulate.

Ok, I'll play!

My avatar photo is me under my first fedora in the summer of 1972. It's a (circa 1950) $16.00 Lee private label I bought as new old stock. It was love at first hat! I've taken great care of that hat, including some professional attention by Art Fawcett a few years back. It's STILL in the rotation, but I do baby it...

45 Years the difference? So when are you going to start looking old like the rest of us?

Thank you. That’s my grandfather, who was the real deal. He was still riding horses regularly the year he died at age 99. His father is my avatar photo. Frank

Well, shoot. That’s just way too cool, Frank.
Generations of real deals. Your great Grandfather’s pic is awesome and to have it as an avatar is a special, uncommon commodity.
Do you cowboy up and carry on their legacy?

I have been known to throw a rope, and ride a squirrelly horse now and again, but these days the only stock I’m wrangling are in kindergarten and second grade.

Well, Sir, corralled kids are apt to horse around and known to stampede for the cafeteria needing wisened cowpunchers that can keep the lil dawggies in tight herds!
Thanks to you, and others like you, many of us hard headed steers grow up smart enough to steer themselves to green pastures. And like the great Willie once sang, “[emoji445]Teachers don’t let our cowboys grow up to be babies [emoji445]”
Or something like that...

I always would grab my dad’s hat for a photo. He always wore a fedora up until his early death in 1977 at age 50. This photo was taken around 1975 and I still have that hat. I started back wearing a hat well over 10 years ago and people would tell me that I looked like my dad. I never go anywhere year round unless I am wearing a hat. Some people are shy about wearing a hat but I just don’t feel complete without a hat on my head.
