Besame Mascara, specifically.

Hello ladies,

I'm not a mascara wearer, I have naturally very long eyelashes- they hit the lenses on my sunglasses. However, I did try some Maybelline or the like once or twice in high school, and it made my eyelashes fall out. Later, I tried some clear mascara, and again, I found my lashes fell out more than usual.

Oh but here I am at 48, and my lashes are going gray- well stark white, really. So I'm just curious about using mascara to cover the white lashes. I've no trust for supermarket brand mascaras because of past experience.

If you have used Besame's mascara, either the cake or the cream, can you tell me how you like it? How it measures up to other brands? Did you find it to be more gentle on your lashes, and easier to remove?

:)

It could be that you are allergic to the ingredients in the mascaras you tried. I read that ladies of the past used a light touch of Vaseline, and you should be able to find a plain mascara brush at your local beauty supply store and keep it clean after each use with dish washing liquid.

And you could also try one of the vegan brand mascaras Mineral Fusion is my favorite brand https://www.mineralfusion.com/products/waterproof-mineral-mascara?variant=4096051587 since I am allergic to silver.

You know, you might have something there. It never occurred to me that lashes falling out could be due to an allergy. I usually figure that first because I have more allergies than most people, they don't tend to manifest like many others, and I'm stupidly sensitive to so much. I had an allergist as a child, it was always so bad. So, I'm going to do some research into that. I don't recall what the brands were at this point, unfortunately.

Thanks for the recommendation, I will also look into Mineral Fusion. :)

I use Besame's cake mascara with a brush much like the one that comes with it (rather than the more typical round brush), and I really like it. I don't know if it's chemically more gentle, but it ends up being less thick on the lashes this way than a typical cream mascara. And because it's not waterproof, it's very, very easy to remove.
