"The waiting is the hardest part"... As has been fully documented in a few threads here on TFL these last few years I placed my Good Wear order on March 29th 2014.. well today the wait ended, and it ended in the best way possible.
John Chapman delivered.
I could gripe about the wait, the gaps in correspondences, that other guys that ordered after me, received jackets before me ... but why bother (it does make for some interesting threads though). In the end I can say John and I had some very fun and interesting conversations via email and telephone, some about jackets and some not, but through it all I did find some amusement in the waiting and I will actually miss being on the wait list. I also would be remiss if I didn't mention that John did not charge me for this jacket..all this for the $200 deposit.
What I asked for and received is a GW version a 1939 Hercules jacket made from seal brown shinki horsehide lined in 24oz wool, 1930’s vintage talon zipper and olive thread.

Bravo Boyo: Hope to see more Goodwear Jacket posting on this forum, but as John mentioned on the Vintage Leather Jacket Forum, most of his customers do not follow the jacket forums.

From my recent conversations with John it sounds as if things are going to be moving a lot quicker in the coming year.

I will believe it when I see people still in the queue posting their new GW jackets... Talk is cheap especially coming from someone still claiming on his website that the waiting time is 18 to 24 months

How would JC know this? I've bought from him in the past and was never surveyed about my forum participation. I realize that these forums represent a very small group of rabid jacket fans, but I do wonder how anyone would ever find Good Wear if it wasn't for one of these forums - or another jacket wearer who follows these forums. Hmmm, these jackets look great. Let me place my deposit and wait - not understanding that he might wait 5 years. There must be some forum that educates his buyers - perhaps more aviation/military themed?

Agreed. His customers are likely 99% forum users and 90% of them are VLJ.

I don't understand how his reputation isn't shot on VLJ, i had a look through that forum recently and could not believe how bad it is, to quote another TFL member, it really is "such a toxic cesspool".
How does someone with his way of doing business not get instant mob justice over there is a mistery to me.
It feels almost cult like...

Maybe these so called friends propagating the stories of "Saint John of the A2" were succesfull?
They certainly tried here as well...
