I posted recently that I had a Grail jacket coming. I suppose you can call anything a Grail jacket. In my case people probably chuckle at what I called a Grail jacket, at least to me. Nothing like the jacket here nothing like the cost.

I assume this is a Grail jacket for many people. It isn't for me, but I can certainly understand why it is for others.

I think it's an absolutely beautiful piece of leather work. In all fields of collecting some pieces just float to the top and command the best money. This is one of them.

This auction makes me think of what vintage jacket I would pay big money for. The problem isn't always the money or lack of, but the lack of finding the jacket.

I haven't encountered that jacket yet, I did find it with guitars. So there is hope. I also hope I had the money when it comes around!

This jacket will probably be garage candy. A great accessory for your vintage Harley. Maybe a hat, goggles, gloves. I think this maker also did riding pants, maybe other accessories? This one may fill a void in the collection or start one

If you combine this jacket as a complete outfit as it was worn, the boots, the pants, googles, cap, gauntlets. Rather smart looking, like a uniform. That I believe is an aspect of this design, that may be overlooked when just seeing the jacket.

Bellboy may be convenient to mock, but would you say the same for a NY police officer wearing a similar coat as part of their uniform? This is an era of motorcycle jacket design, taking inspiration from military and police etc and modified for motorcycle use.

The price reflects a collectable American leather manufacturer that is not as common as others I understand. I believe some of the fun being made of this represents a misunderstanding of what they are looking at. I don't mean this to be offensive. It may not be an aesthetic one likes, but it is a significant jacket desgn nonetheless.

I understand you can not argue aesthetic, as that is personal. But the jacket still deserves respect for an era that it represents.
