Hard to tell in the condition it's in but don't you think it has too much taper? It doesn't look like it's blocked like an OR to me.

Here (on the middle left) is my new addition (thanks to theoldfashioned) a 40's Dobbs 20. No model name but like their "Westward" with just a bit more crown and brim....it is a sort of grey/tan (in bright light looks very grey, but "changes" color with it's background) with a grey/lavender ribbon and binding. I need to find the ad again, but in an early ad of mine, Dobbs claimed their model was copied from the popular Borsalino Alexandria and had the same fine felt and proportions.......
Also Pictured is my OPS Dobbs Westward in an interesting sort of taupe brown with matching trim.....AND for good measure a "Citified" L L Bean fur felt OR type clone......wore that a LOT this summer....on the cooler days that is......

I came across this Barlesoni (it’s not mine) I thought that it should be included in this thread. I’m not sure if it has a model name. The brand hat existed since at least the 1940s. It appears that they were always made in the US. The later hats, which might include this hat, were made by The Bollman Hat Company.
This brand pops up occasionally, but not frequently. In the past, I’ve seen mostly stingy brims. This is the first OR clone I’ve seen.

Nice Find!!!! Interesting to see the differences.....do you have any interior and sweat shots? It looks like yours has a felted edge? That is awesome, though technically OR's and their kin had narrow bound edges. The ribbon tails are interesting too....different from mine and the "Westward". Show us the inside and any blocking tags and we can see when yours was made.....what are the dimensions (crown and brim) on yours?

Lichtenstein's South Texan.
Lichtenstein & Son, Corpus Christi, TX was in business from 1874 to 1972. Sold in 1972 the new owners continued using the Lichtenstein name until 1977. The store closed in 1987.
I believe but can't prove this hat was made by Resistol & not Lion, Beaver Brand, Bollman or any of the others. Probably dates to very late 1960's into early 1970's. 2-3/4 BE brim x 4-1/4 at dip. Black sweat with black pre metric size tag. Liner seams at the back & has plastic protector.
Great condition with only a few stains on the ribbon.
No tags behind the sweat other than the union tag. What I did find was the owner's name & address on a tag. Not a common surname so I googled it along with the address. The former owner is alive at age 90 (so I won't publish his name) & is an attorney, the son of an attorney & has a son who is an MD. I can only assume the hat was bought by the seller at a living estate sale. Too bad it wasn't one of the hats belonging to the famous criminal defense attorney Richard "Racehorse" Haynes who passed away a couple of yrs ago at age 90.
PS: Just happened to think about WY criminal defense attorney Gerry Spence & his hats. He is semiretired from practicing law at age 90 also. I'll bet he's still wearing hats.

Nice looking OR clone Jack. I listened to a podcast recently about Richard Haynes, definitely an interesting guy with some very interesting defense strategies... It's wild that in Texas the 'he needed killin' defense is still viable to this day.
