I thought about safety & security, but I also wondered about leveling? The rods do have turnbuckles on them. I'm thinking a mechanical slot machine would need to be pretty level to spin properly. Those old floors probably were not.^ I'm curious about why it's so securely (?) bolted to the floor. Anti-theft? Earthquakes? Really rowdy drunken gamblers?

I have an 1880's pool table with heavy cast iron elephant table legs on the four corners. The elephant table leg stand upright on the elephants trunk.
At the floor the trunk turns up and served as a step up for people of the day to stretch across the table for a long shot. But what I wanted to show was that each of the four trunks has a big heavy duty leveling bolt out the bottom.
The pool table will be restored in my lifetime. I still need a couple of better pocket irons. Sorry for the poor quality pics just now taken.

Same leg. Although the elephant's harness has been repainted at some point, this leg has the most original paint left for a good color match. Once a color match is made all four legs will be soda blasted & primered.
Thanks Bob, but I'm sort of like you were with that VW bus. I've spent yrs working & getting nothing else accomplished.
These are internet pics but I had a Monarch in Rosewood with the cast iron lion legs. There was so much of the inlaid marquetry missing on the cabinet I gave up trying to find a craftsman to replace it & started looking for a better cabinet. The Ebonized cabinet dates to 1875.
I still have a set of lion legs & the center spreader.
