I am sorry, but I was not able to find the original measurements from the seller. Mine is a size 40 and my actual chest measurement is 39" The jacket fits closely but is not restrictive because of the shoulder blade and armpit gussets. So I would say true-to-size if you are reasonably lean. If you are carrying weight, I think you would need to size up.
Also, if you want to regularly wear a heavy sweater underneath. I am o.k. with a shetland, but not anything chunkier.

Thanks.

Are you able to post the measurements of your size 40? I am also at a 39" chest and am a lean build. I am around an 18 1/2" shoulder width.

Can you please post or pm me the pit to pit, shoulder width and back length from base of collar to the bottom?

I had an Eastman m-422a (about 8 years ago) as well as a LW G-1. Sold the Eastman but still have the LW.
The Eastman was nice but on my particular jacket the goatskin was very stiff and took forever to break in and get comfortable in it. Also the mouton fur on the collar was very curly and tight and had a very uniform rust red color so it did not look like a natural vintage/aged piece of fur.
My LW has awesome goatskin, thick yet soft and pliable, and the fur is an amazing, very natural honey brown/blonde.
Maybe the LW is longer than normal but I like that since I am tall with long arms.

Here’s a few shots of my LW G-1:

Astute observers will notice that I had the cuffs and waistband replaced with blue knits made for an AF jacket. No reason for that in particular, just something I thought might look cool (it didn’t come out as cool as I’d hoped for but it’s definitely unique). I also had the Mouton collar replaced with some vintage Mouton from a jacket that I purchased for this purpose. Nothing wrong with the original mouton but it was kind of a lifeless gray/black color and I wanted something with a warmer tone.
The jacket is a size 46 and it fits almost exactly like my vintage Star Sportswear and L.W Foster G-1’s do in that size.

IMO the blue knits and new collar look very cool, they’re original and interesting modifications. Well done I think.

...I’ve also been tempted to pick up a LW and would appreciate any fit pics or close ups that the OP might care to share. Online pics are pretty few and far between of the LW.

..
Let me know what close-ups you want and I'll try to take them for you.
Thanks.

I'll try to take some measurements for you Sunday evening.

Mine fits, lengthwise, like Thor's. I would prefer it if the knit were higher, i.e. closer to the waist without the jacket needing to balloon/tunnel El Marro's is closer to how I like (no ballooning) but maybe a drop shorter. All of these look pretty good, though.

Oh, thanks for the offer. I don’t need any angles in particular, but any shots, or fit pics in general just broaden the knowledge base about this maker.

Actually, El Marro’s and Thor’s fit pics paint the actual jacket in a more flattering light than do the manikin shots from the LW website, IMO. There may be a LW in my future.

hopefully these will be useful:
EDIT: I have 6 photos but they are all too big for the FL server - if someone tells me 1. the upload limit size; and 2. how to compress them for upload (I am using OS X), I will come back and edit this and put them in.

Exactly. So how can the sleeves be to long , if you have long arms ?

they are too long. I have 34" sleeve length and a coke bottle shape - long torso and a 42" chest. I have owned two LW A-2's still own one custom A2 in deerskin and one B-3. The custom is a bit on the long side but the other two A-2's were annoyingly long for me so I sold them... my experience but 15 - 20 years old... yours may be different...

I don't use OSX. Unsure what the size limit is. I used to be able to upload photos here no prob but lately I can't as my files are too large even after resizing so I use Imgur to host my photos instead.

Why not just type out the measurements here instead?

Sure, but it would probably be useful to see exactly how the jacket lays out, because of the shoulder and armpit gussets, the front pattern at the bottom and how I measured the sleeves for you:
Front pit to pit:21"/Back Pit to pit: 21.5"
Back: Base of collar to bottom of knit 25.5" (22" to bottom of leather)
Front: top of zip/bottom of neck to bottom: 23"
Sleeve: shoulder point to end of cuff: 23"
Back: shoulder to shoulder point 17"

Open the photo and then export as JPEG. In the JPEG setting, you can set the quality. Just set the quality to a lower level and you can see the file size decrease. Save it when it gets to around 800 KB.

I bought a LW G-1 custom jacket in russet horsehide a while back. Size 42. Runs true to size even though ptp of 22" indicates it may run small. It doesn't. Gussets make this fit huge. I'm a 40" chest and bought based on the 22" ptp and it's way too huge on me. Very long too. Anyone interested ina size 42 russet HH G-1 in pretty much unworn condition can hit me up, lol. Only reason I haven't sold it yet is lack of time to take proper pictures and my slight wish to trade it for a size 40 LW rather than sell.

As for the Eastman debate, I haven't owned a Eastman G-1 but other Eastmans (A-2 and Thunderbird A1) and I like this LW way better. I don't know about historic accuracy but as for overall quality and feel, LW impressed me much more.

Here is an upload of the reduced size photos. Thank you to those of you who provided assistance. I hope these are helpful.

A horsehide G-1 would be awesome. The shoulder gussets are remarkable for getting a trim fit with a ton of mobility - it is one of the reasons I like it so much, even if I wish the front were shorter. If anyone reading this can fit into a 42, they should snatch that up.

Thank you! I e-mailed LW also and he got back to me with this:

Measurements: Shoulder: Body Length: Sleeve Length: Armpit"

38R 19" 24.5" *24.0" 21"

40R 20" 25.0 *24.5 22

*excludes 3" wool cuff.
