Looking for an opinion on this one.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/1-NOS-Vint...520416?hash=item4b72f9cba0:g:I2QAAOSw8o1eKi2d

I am actually thinking about getting this for my wife, but I have a question out to the seller about the actual measurements. I am not well versed in vintage Vanson, but this thing is NOS and looks nice, only thing is, if it would fit, I am not sure what a reasonable offer would be. I don't like to lowball people, but I 500 seems high...especially since it has an 89.99 price tag still on it :) But I also respect paying more for it because they did the legwork to find it, so if it would fit her, I want to make the person a reasonable offer.

Any input is much appreciated.

Cheers!

That's hard to say. I shop for motorcycle jackets for my girlfriend frequently. They often go cheap on the secondary market. Typically much cheaper than similar mens models. I even looked at this one a little while back. Its interesting being NOS including the hand tag. I passed for a couple reasons but the main being price. I've seen used versions of the same model and era under $50 but typically $100 +/- . I can't think of one off the top of my head sell for more than $150 in excellent condition.

Thanks so much for the feedback! The NOS makes it more appealing than a used jacket and I'd pay a little more. I will see if they respond with the measurements and take it from there. I have a feeling if they are putting the price that high, they are waiting for the person at the end of the rainbow, but she really liked it, so I may still consider it.

Appreciate the input!

Welcome! Well, two of the most important things are measurements and she really likes it! How much is pay a little more is up to you. Happy wife happy life. I will say these typically sit out on auction for a handful of runs until the price drops drops more reasonable. But thats always the gamble and she's seen it..

Yeah...the dreaded purple circle the item has been sold you procrastinated on. I have seen it one or 12 times before :) I am going to keep an eye on it and hope for a drop, but for the price they are posting, I would rather spend an extra 150 and wait out an Aero...they throw some nice female jackets up for reasonable prices if you keep an eye on it.

Cheers!

Agree, I see used one like this sell for around this price or a bit more semi regularly. If I remember right they were asking $250/300 BIN. To me a hang tag NOS that has some scuffing isn't worth $4xx more. But thats me.

I'd like to add that it never hurts to make offers even if the listing is not accepting them. You never know the financial situation of the Seller. Of course, as has been mentioned, sometimes you gotta wait for the item to "ripen" before you can place an offer below (or well below) asking. It has to sit for awhile and not sell so you perhaps get a more motivated Seller. And remember, although we all "watch" items, Watchers are not necessarily BUYERS!! I have made offers only to be rebuffed by the Seller who tells me, "I can't let it go for that. I have 25 watchers!" to which I respond, "I know its not what you are asking, but I have money and they have eyes. 25 watchers and I am the only one offering to buy. Keep my offer in mind and get back to me if you reconsider." This has often resulted in a deal more often than not.

But there is always that risk---and since your wife has seen the jacket, the cat's outta the bag!!

I couldn't agree more with everything said. I talk offers all the time in messages on non offer items. When an item is high, I don't mind shooting a low ball. Most of my offers besides item condition are my budget, reflection of asking price, comparable sale prices, and the seller or terms.

I've learned my lesson the hard way as a seller and watchers. I'm into watches too. I had one for sale that had tons of watchers pretty quick. I had an offer made, rejected it, and got into negotions. I didn't sell it for his reasonable offer becuase of all the watchers and honestly didn't really want to sell it but should. Many auctions, offers, and watchers later I sold it for not much more than the first offer. In the end the buyer was more than happy, but I would have preferred not to deal with all the watchers in between.

I watch a lot of auctions for various reasons and only a few of them I actually buy. The ones I want to buy rotate order of importance of what I'm willing to buy today or hold off until another day.

Hell there's a jacket still listed 6 months later from a seller that we were at a deal but he wouldn't budge on his 3x the shipping cost. Guess what, I'm still a watcher. Lol
