Most of these messaging apps compress the pics automatically upon sending and that does the trick.

Thanks, Panos. I'm writing via my computer now.

My phone has never been a problem. It's only because the FL has switched off Tapatalk. All was working perfectly before.

That can't happen! One brexit is already more than enough, Steve. Using the fedora lounge on a computer takes a bit of doing, but once you get used to it, the rewards are that you get to see the beautiful hats on a large screen.
Here's my working method.
1. I take a selfie on my i-phone
2. I mail that picture to myself (the phone will ask in what size you want to mail it: don't pick the largest!)
3. I open my mailbox on my computer and download the pics i've sent myself
4. I open up the pics in a photo-editor to edit them (usually just colour correction), which prevents them from showing up sideways here.
5. I use the "upload a file" option when posting to find the picture(s) on my computer and add it to the post.

Once you get used to that working method, which is a bit of a roundabout admittedly, it works. And the lounge is worth it!

For the new hats it's more or less the same, except that those get taken with an actual camera and edited in photoshop, downsized (a lot!), renamed (no way to find them otherwise) and then uploaded.

1. When you are in the screen to post a new message, either before or after entering your text, select 'UPLOAD FILE'.

2. Your photo app will open and you can navigate to the album that you want to select.
Select the photo you want, or multiple photos at once.
At the bottom you will see the actual size. It seems 2MB is about the limit, so unless it is already a very small file
you then select 'Choose Image Size'.

3. You will then see a screen where you can select the size. Large is always small enough for me.

4. You will now see the new size at the bottom of the screen.
Select 'DONE' at the top.

5. After selecting 'Done' on that screen, you will be back at the forum page with the image showing
at the bottom of the box where you enter your message. Select 'Thumbnail' or 'Full Image'. I usually do Thumbnail, as it is still good size.

6. It will now be inserted into the message box. After entering your text and all your images select 'Post Reply'.

A tip for if your photos are showing sideways is to just slightly crop them in your photo app and it corrects the orientation.

It sounds more difficult than it is with it all listed out like this, but after you do it a few times it is second nature.
I do not find it cumbersome at all.

Excellent write up, Tim. I do not use my phone for the lounge (I hate looking at small screens), but that seems the way to go about it. I've done the same for posting from a desktop, which does involve several steps, but nothing impossible.

Personally, I'm going to settle on looking at the awesome hats. If Tapatalk gets resolved, then I'll post pictures again, otherwise I'm just as happy.

I love the simplicity of Tapatalk which is why I paid for the upgrade and I hope I get to use it again sometime.

Sad to see a lot of the members have trouble with posting recently. I hope they find a way to stick around. It takes a bit of doing to post here, but it's well worth it to be a part of this great community. I think Tim @Hagwood write an excellent instruction for posting from a phone here:
