Vintage Omega Super Lighter from WWII (?) anyone have info?

I stumbled upon this really cool lighter last time I was at an antique store in Ontario. I had to get it, it was so pretty. So I got new flint and put some fuel and we were good to go!

The person at the shop told me it's likely from WWII and that they would give that to the new recruits in a "welcome package" if you will. I didn't speak with the vendor directly, just someone who works in the shop who knows the vendor. He also said that the city in the back was likely where they were stationed, in Japan.

I couldn't find anything about "SANO SILK", and I don't know why it's written "Contractor" instead of US NAVY.

Does anyone know anything about this? I'd love more information.

My guess is it's pre-world war two actually. Probably done under a contract or side deal with the US Navy.

Just a wild guess. But lighters changed a lot between the wars.

That style did see production post-wwi. So...could be from after 45.

That would be awesome if so! I tried putting that in Google and wasn't able to find anything. I don't know if silk is a silk company or they were called silk? I couldn't find any information about this actually and only have the information I was given at the antique store but I don't know how accurate it is - I didn't even speak with the vendor directly but the employee of the antique shop (that manages many kiosks from vendors).

MY 2 cents worth is that, that is the company name and they were a supplier to the US Navy before the war or way after the war. I am betting before the war given the phone number and the fact that most things got bombed heavily during the war and that place may not have existed afterwards.
