I have been off the forum for a while and just logged back on. Wow! What a great thread this turned into. Thanks for all of the great info, pics, experience sharing!
FWIW, Cal-Leather makes and sells their new jackets with the belt loops and a hand-tooled duty belt, with the customer’s initials on the inside of the belt. Beautiful stuff. These are the same heavy duty L.A.P.D. design that they’ve always made, but I don’t know if they’re making jackets for police departments any more. Most likely the majority of these gun belts will never see use as a gun belt. Since my initial post, after trying a duty belt on my old Cal jacket I agree with what has been said about it adding some support to the kidney belt part of the jacket and helping with a snug fit without having to fine tune the laces so much. However, without a tank saver it’s a no-go. Perhaps on a bike with a more upright riding position it would work better.

Started riding a MC in 1972 and owned one ever since. Let see...Full face helmet ... Heavy leather jacket with armor, of course...pants with armor, of course...heavy boots...armored gloves, of course. Did I leave anything out? Mouthpiece perhaps ?? Sure sounds so comfortable, wind in your hair freedom and fun. Er no thanks, if I must do all that I'll just take the car for a relaxing drive.....

Ha, see, over here with the climate being that much cooler than where you are, most of the year theextra padding is just a bonus against the weather. ;)

Still a lot of skin to loseon the face / arms, though! But that's one of the reasons I've beenwary of visiting CA thus far - I couldn't cope with the weather. ;)

It was around 78/79 degrees F today in SoCal. I’m about 15 miles in from the coast. The weather is amazing here, you can ride year-round, but the extended summer of Southern California does get tedious at times. It’s good to have ventilated riding gear. I see a lot of people riding in shorts, t-shirts, and sandals. Good luck, buddy.
I’m not looking forward to what July - Sept. will be like if it’s pushing 80 in Feb. Even hotter in the valleys and desert. Northern California is pretty nice, and still good for year-round riding. However, if you’re in the L.A. or S.F. metro areas you’re going to have to deal with lots of freeway traffic to get to where the nice riding is.
I have a textile riding jacket with zipper vents but my Cal is what I wear most of the time. It’s not that bad once you’re moving.

I remember the first time I went out on the back of my Dad's bike, hitting 50mph, not that fast, really, but a surprising cooling factor as compared to standing still, and that was on a PC800 with a full fairing.

Oooo.....Moto Morini. A rare bird in these parts. Very nice. What is the bike in the background?

Lots of U.K. expats in L.A. They always seem so bloody happy. Must be the weather.

The MM 350 must be a blast to ride around on. Looks great for an 40 year old bike! The perfect shade of Italian red, and I am digging the loooong pipes. Bring your Triumph triple to California and ride the coast highway from Mexico to Canada. That’s bike was made for something like that. I’ll join you!
The grass is always greener on the other side.......all of the grass down here is already turning brown, and your grass is so very and eternally green!
Cheers!

If only I have superpower to control sun exposure, I would happily share 50% of sun here to you.

no I don't want to barter it with fog and rain:confused:, just happy to donate some sun.
