Lots to learn here if you have an open mind (thousands of years of collective experience) helps you avoid any 5 year 'break-in' jackets :)

Im a little late in replying to this but I would advise against this.

This forum is very narrow minded in their "knowledge". Most of the jackets I see on here I would never own.

Im a huge Malenotti Belstaff/Matchless fan and the people on this forum call them mall jackets lol. Not everyone wants bi-swing back bulky stiff looking jackets that take 5 years to break in.

Thanks for this post, I needed a morning laugh and you delivered. Don't get me wrong - I understand there are mainstream jacket wearers who like other things, it's just that this site's reason for being is to bypass the mass produced and celebrate artisan made and golden era quality. You're right about not everyone liking our style. That's kind of the point.

You should start at the very beginning here: https://www.thefedoralounge.com/threads/what-jacket-are-you-wearing-today.82949/
Get through all 1100 pages.

They are called that b/c that's what they look like. You could just as well slap a Hugo Boss label on everything offered from both those makers. All they've done is increase the price tag.

Whhaaaaatt???? Ive never associated Hugo Boss with Malenotti Belstaff/Matchless? Here are some of my mall jackets for comparison.

This site is more of a niche site where fashion is not the primary goal of the jacket I get that but to insult people with other taste doesnt make members feel too welcome

Nor is discrediting literally hundreds of years of collective experience, knowledge and exploration. Many members here have collected across a vast array of eras, styles and manufacturers. Fashion has never been of any significance here. Style on the other hand...is quite significant. Surely you can recognize the difference. If not, there is nothing of value for you here. People come here for education. Not fashion trends. I’ve learned an enormous amount from members and their experiences. I understand you favor particular brands, many members do. The brand in question is particularly unsavory from what I have seen.

You might find a more welcome audience for what you prefer on the ironically named style forum.

Yeah see theres something to be said for knowing your audience. Sometimes we here can be a bit dismissive and judgmental. Ill agree to that. Ive done it myself here. We could sometimes use a bit more acceptance around these parts and not call everything a mall jacket ha. But this is a site for vintage, repro, and vintage inspired jackets. As those above have stated we come here for very specific reasons. Nothing wrong with the things you own by any means. By any account well made and stylish jackets. But like @ton312 says thats not why any of us are here. So dont advertise those things here, go someplace. If anyone is expecting anything else they are going in with the wrong mindset. We want the history, the experience, the techniques, the aesthetic, the traditions. And while a lot of us do like the big heavy thick jackets as you say, theres a ton of users who dont! And guess what their opinions and input is highly greatly still valued. Why? Because they are still after all those things I listed. And its not just all cross zips, look at the jackets posted around here too. Military, biker, racer, car coats, denim, pea coats, civilian, every day wear, work wear, you name it. You should for your own good probably just see your way out to avoid this going further. Sorry if you think were rude or dismissive, but nature of the beast.

Never works out too well when a brand new member rushes in with a lecturing attitude minus even a friendly hello. Most often means your days here are numbered, so you better hurry and get all you bitter distaste announced cause I have a strong feeling that you are very close to being permanently shown the door. Of little matter though, you have nothing in common with us as you've so happily advised us.

Yes I can tell this forum is definitely not for me.

You say theres experience and knowledge here but what good is that when its expressed through condescending remarks?
Also exploration is the last thing you see on this forum.

Theres a handful of makers on this forum that are deemed acceptable on if you dare mention anything else youre rewarded with snide remarks.

No need to reply. Thanks

You clearly ignored my first response and failed to look through the first link I provided. See ya at the food court.
