Green from a mid-to-late 1930's belt-backed suit; darker and richer in person:

Below is the fabric from a late 1930's 3 piece DB suit in my collection. This suit's fabric is particularly nubby and coarse.

I wore it dancing a few times and the scratchiness of the wool drove me nuts, however I didn't regret for an instant standing around outside in it on one particularly cold and windy evening...

Hello guys!

I won't be able to post photos until either Friday or Saturday.

Big work project coming up. Big personal project due this week too.

I will be posting better scanned swatch photos of these two suits later this week:

1930's Curvy Wool Double Breasted Suit, Glass Buttons

1930's Brown Wool Curvy Pinstripe 2 Piece Suit Nr Mint

I have another absolutely killer 1930's green wool suit with pointed shoulders - wait till you see this. It's something out of a Batman movie. I LOVE this suit, and have a matching hat. I had it rewoven, but looked at it the other night, and it got a couple stains in storage. :rage:

I have another 1930's ivory silk suit that is a wee bit deteriorated. I am trying to figure out how to salvage it, and it *is* salvageable.

I also have a summer suit from the 1920's. Simple black dress with belt and jacket, syntheic blend. Not too unusual, but you don't see too many of them around.

I don't remember what else I have. I thought I had a white 1920's summer linen summer suit, but I did a quick check and couldn't find it. Not sure if I have it anymore or not.

By the way, I LOVE LOVE LOVE the first suit in this thread. *sigh*

Have to run-

Love how they used to weave patterns into the goods right along with striping. You really have something there, with 2 kinds of eye appeal and texture to the hand.

You ought to have the trou lined to the knee, then wear calf length sox. Bye bye itchy scratchy.

Scratchiness forced me to sell off one of my favorite '30s suits. The trousers would have needed to be FULLY lined, and that's an expensive tailoring job. I wasn't willing to wear long johns just for the suit, so off to eBay it went.

The suit's cut was spectacular, but the material felt like wool sandpaper. :(

Duke: I now want that exact belt back on any coats I may have made in the future. Good find, and thanks for the inspiration. :)

slicedbread: I know you hate me and all, but I have to say that coat with the lapel rolled to the last button is a nice detail.

Vintage Betty: I think listing live eBay auctions isn't permitted here. Good luck, though! I hope you post more pictures in the other thread.

I'm going to break my own rule and show something from 1950 (a silk suit from Oviatt's). Note the fabric's texture:

Now that's funny today while I was washing my hand on the school restroom I looked down on the floor. Pattern of of the floor plates was the same except for the colour(chocolate brown with khaki/beige stripes) and I though that it would great on a suit! lol

Henrik
