I selected a brown 40's Stetson Stratoliner for the evening.

Thanks sir. I like the "chore hat" you showcased this afternoon. Mowing-wow! I still have ice and a snow pile melting in the backyard. Eric -
Haha.. Ice and snow... what’s that? I will say though. I think this is first I needed to mow since a post a month or so ago. Give it a month though and it will be needed almost twice a week! Not that I’ll actually DO it mind you.

Very nice
Thanks, Rumad. Very nice and very pettable, indeed @AbbaDatDeHat .

This type of felt isn’t so much steam shaped as it is slowly steam coaxed and manipulated. But it sure is super incredible once finally worried into the desired position. Even then it defies stiffening. A perpetually incredible soft felt...that loves to be stroked and felt up.
Yes. I said it.

Love that one Joe
Thanks man. I do love that this is a hat that can look good... but have no worries to get beat up too. It has a bit of an Indy feel to me. Definitely won’t mind taking this one out to the Everglades on a photo expedition. Having been so partial to Cavanagh edge on so many of my hats... I am digging how sharp this raw edge is.... like a razor. Man this was probably a heck of a hat in its day.

View attachment 222434 Greetings All:
Today....it’s not a hat...i know!!
But...i got a story and since we all have time...what the heck.
My perpetual nap was interrupted by a frantic mother call who locked the only keys and two year old in the car across town. My old Audi, not an easy break-in.
Time was of the essence so, yes mother, break the window, i’m on my way. Threw on whatever and lit out. Half way there a call, all’s well, got the keys.
It turns out with 3 butter knives and a coat hanger you can fish the keys to a two year old who can un-lock herself no sweat.
Now the good part...was the baby panicked, freakin out because of the dire conditions around her that all us adults realized??
Hell no...she was dancing in the carseat to the beep of the car alarm!! She said she was brave and it was an adventure!!

Now i’m thinking there’s some lessons in there for us all. Maybe we should take a lesson from a two year old and just calm the **** down during dire times.
Either that or drink the kool-aid.
Me...thank you Willow, i’m going back to my nap.
Be well and safe.
Bowen

...and a child shall lead them.

Nice recovery, Randall.

View attachment 222342 Richman Brothers Panama straw made in Ecuador in the 50s? The straw had 2 cracks that I repaired, but otherwise in great condition. The leather sweatband is as new, but the threads holding the sweat to the Reeded material ring had rotted and the sweat components fell apart from each other!
Had to sew them back together and then sew it back to the straw. Changed out the original ribbon that was ruined from use of the double sided tape from manufacturer.
The Richman inner crown logo was something I made from looking at logos of other Richman hats, So, pretty much rebuilt the entire hat and probably should now call the hat a Poorman Brothers! :) View attachment 222343 View attachment 222340

Yesterday, Fort Worth mayor Betsy Price came up with one of those Texas slang sayings that just might catch on;
Y'all stay safe. Y'all stay healthy and Y'all stay home!

At home with my new homburg from Northwest Hats.

Nice burg, Randy!
Cool colors. Looks great on you.
So, uh... we don’t get to see that ribbon bow? Looks like there might be something going on with it, other than the typical bow tie?

Still playing with that, Randall. I watched an episode of the Marvelous Mrs. Mazel last night and one of the secondary characters said that Wedensdays were "Work from home without Pants days". With all the shelter in place mandates we have currently, I thought his statement was appropo!!! Shudde Brothers on top, bull hide Nocona's on the bottom :)

So with all this stayin’ Safe, healthy and home I guess you now have plenty of time to finish that historical Texas stagecoach trail novel you started years ago?
