Could it be that you also didn't really wear the jacket?
I mean it was already two sizes two big when you originally bought it in 2016, i am having a hard time believing a jacket with that fit was worn much at all :

You have a weird relationship with LW, you spend your time putting them down in most threads but seem to be wearing them all the time.
The was also that weird incident where you said you received a jacket with a giant smear mark in the sleeve, that has mysteriously disappeard.

As far as use on the bike, i have ridden in the J-24 and i didn't find it worst than any of my vansons.
I could see how if you had ape hangers it would ride up when you reach, but if you have a "regular" motorcycle it works great.
I believe he wore it the 15 oz cotton duck lining is seriously stiff. You have to break it in ( leather broke before lining)! It is seriously heavy duty lining

I have handled a few aeros but don't own any, so I can't comment much on how it is on a bike. But I have used LW on a bike, and it works. The suburban, which is not even specialised riding gear, worked for me quite well and it kept me dry riding a couple of hours under a downpour.
The J24 works well, but as @Monitor said, the SD has better range of motion. Haven't tried it on the bike yet to comment any further.
My Thedi cross button also works very well, that's how I aged it, by riding under the heatwave in London in summer :)
The Langlitz Death Head Cascade feels the most comfortable but not by a massive margin.
Vanson, I will be getting a chopper when things settle, very curious on how they compare with the rest :)

I felt both LW and Aero were pretty poor choices for anything that requires your arms to be extended or reaching forward. Movement/ range of motion was pretty restricted. So then it’s just a matter of how comfortable am I going around dressed like this to get groceries, run errands or go out to eat: View attachment 229948
The answer is not very. I must’ve lost the cajones. I used to be more confident wearing a jacket like this out and about but more and more...began to feel like a costume. Hate to think I’ve become overly self conscious...maybe I’m just settling into the dad zone. I will start the “Which IZOD windbreaker are you wearing today?” thread.

You of all people?! I know I am repeating myself, but you can pull off almost any style - almost still being a key word :p

When someone comes aroud wearing something this cool, and pulling it off effortlessly, people are going to notice. You will have some positive vibes and some negative ones. It all human nature. Why not embrace it?

I do wear the J24 for groceries, because why not? It is a jacket. I travel with it and sometimes get comments when passing the x-rays. All good.

I'm really surprised to hear you couldn't extend your arms in a J-24, @ton312 , the jacket having that bigass action-back and all but I assure you, the Speed Demon is possibly the most comfortable jacket I've ever owned, except for maybe Langlitz (though SD is made of much stiffer hide so I'd probably put them at the same lever).

You can quite literally live in it, wouldn't be a problem at all. I'm either on a bike or a bicycle all the time so range of motion means a lot to me and SD absolutely reigns over mostly anything I've tried. Wouldn't be selling all my other jackets if it wasn't the case so I mean it when I say, the SD does EVERYTHING right.

It's interesting... People who have handled certain LW jackets claim they ain't riding jackets but the only one I have convinced me entirely of the opposite and I'd actually recommend it alongside Vanson or Langlitz. Not that anyone's wrong and I believe you, just that SD absolutely does the job.

But I guess having one good riding jacket still doesn't make LW a good motorcycle gear maker.

As for Stu, my experience so far has still been faaar from anything that could be considered even remotely positive. It was more of a struggle and a boxing match, one that I don't think I'll get into ever again. Right now I am waiting for the jacket to arrive but considering I have absolutely no clue what exactly is it that I'm getting, I'll hold on commenting any further on the matter.

Single word email replies on legit questions and concerns are incredibly rude, though if someone's paying you $2000 for a stupid leather jacket.

While the action back on the j-23 is long, it’s not terribly deep. Could well be the jacket size was an issue too. I filled both of the j-23’s to the brim. That said when I wore it open it became a huge baggy looking mess. Especially from the side where it looked like a bell. I believe that’s why most members post their jackets shown closed. They just don’t sit right open. That’s not an issue to LW exclusively, but the insane weight and stiffness of the hide certainly exacerbate it. I would ultimately put LW ahead of Aero for MC use and a solid tier below Vanson. But tbh that’s of minor concern for most folks around here and the angle of reach for my bars was comical. Essentially like Superman double fisted, overhead in flight. I do agree w/ Carlos that a more traditional, upright seated position would probably negate the issues I had with reach.

Nah Tony.
You still got the cajones. It’s just the wax and wane of “the dad zone”. Not to worry, it happens.
Just hang onto a few of those epic jackets and they’ll be there when you need em. And yeah....get that monster ride out, it’s legend too!

I know exactly what you mean and yeah, I absolutely believe you that might be the case on the J but with SD they got it right from collar to the belt buckle. @red devil's got both jackets and I was quite surprised to hear him say the SD is a considerably more comfortable than the J. Aero's J-106 was overall a very good jacket, too! I don't remember it being as restrictive as anything with their standard gussets.
Either way, that's why I was really looking forward to you seeing the SD but Corona stopped that but yeah, I'm sure you'd feel the same about it. It's not like the most perfect jacket imaginable but it does so many thing so well I figured, might as well not take any further chances and just play it safe. I really do intend to make it a keeper.

On the other hand, I'm also not saying it's actually better than Vanson's E or B or especially the A. It's a lot fancier of course, hide is definitely nicer, there's that stitching business and I more importantly, I could mod it the way I wanted to, which is why I went with LW after all. But otherwise, for a great looking and performing MC jacket, E's just as good of a jacket.

The jacket doesn't look very good when unzipped, that stands true for the SD, too. Turns into a tent of a sort.

What did you end up ordering, Ivan? J-23/4? LT?

Another Speed Demon. :) Yeah, I know, why? Well, I spec'd it with some mods that I wanted and what I said earlier, the jacket's just so good at being what I need that I didn't feel like taking any risks with some other style. Most of the stuff on LW's page I flat out don't like and what I do like, at $1500 a piece, experimenting isn't really an option for me.

But you know, for a jacket I can wear most of the time... Yeah, I can see myself growing old(er) in a Speed Demon.

Keep me in mind if you decide to move one of your SDs. Muchas gracias.

For sure. I'm more or less set on moving the 44 as it's really too big for me without layers and I'm hoping the 42 will be right there in the middle of being wearable on a T-shirt while still have room for all the winter sweaters but we'll see. You'll be the first to know, for sure.

How do you compare LW SD with Sugar Cane? (If they both are correct size)

Sugar Cane had a perfectly functional action back, too. Very, very comfortable jacket, full range of motion, made in visually nicer and equally heavy hide (with a tea-core effect). If it was a size larger, it'd be a tough call which to keep. SD with quilted liner is warmer but that was about the only thing it had SC beat. The cuffs on SC were air-tight once zipped up, which is a huge plus over an SD.

I think the Sugar Cane may have been the finest leather jacket I've ever handled, in pretty much every way. Never thought about it much until now but honestly, given a choice, I would've kept the Sugar Cane. Yep.

Please guys, it's "cOjones" not "cAjones". Unless U don't know diference between "bAlls " and "bElls".
Hey thank “U” for pointing that out. Wonderful contribution to the thread. Here is your prize:
