New Vanson Oxford

Just received my new Vanson Oxford in comp weight size 40. Jacket is really nice and I think fits great. I spent a long time reading posts from other owners to get the sizing right. Not many posts about the Oxford, so I had to go off of guys model b sizing which is the same jacket with cafe racer collar.
I’m 5’9” 185lb with a 42in chest and 34in waist. I like snug jackets with a v-shape since I don’t ever layer. The only change is that I wish the quilt lining didn’t have insulation in it since I get hot pretty easily, but it’s not too bad or thick.
I love the competition leather, even more than cxl. I’m really not a big fan of overly oily leather or super stiff jackets anymore. I’m more of a goatskin fan nowadays. The Oxford is lot more comfortable out of the box than my highwayman in heavy steer cxl. The best part is that the jacket was at my door in less than a week from ordering from Vanson direct.

What's the difference between the Oxford and the Enfield? I think the Enfield doesn't have a center seam down the back, but otherwise they are very similar.

I believe the Enfield fits a little boxier than the Oxford. I’m really not a fine of the center vertical seam, but I believe it helps with creating a more tapered jacket. I would rather have a better fitting jacket with a center seam than an ill-fitting jacket without one. I usually have to wear half-belt jackets with pleats sewn in to get the waist slimmer. The action-back and underarm gussets also really help with the mobility and comfort of this jacket.

Great jacket! Great fit too! Been looking at that style myself, but Vanson only accepts credit cards which I don't use so I cannot order with them directly

Looking forward to see how you break this one in! Can you please post high-res close ups of the leather? There has been some debate about that..

The Enfield has no underarm gussets, a one piece back and two inside pockets instead of one. Other than that I believe the jackets are pretty much identical. Apparently the Enfield is supposed to be roomier but it's clearly the same pattern, so Idk about that one..

The grain is very uniform in look, feel, and density. Feels very tough but pliable. It’s definitely not going to show the character or molding of veg tan leather if that is what you are looking for.

I do like the Oxford in the dark maple bainbridge that Thurston Bros posts every now and then and it's on my list.

That's a great fit overall and my body dimensions are very close to yours: 5'10" 193lbs 42" chest, 36" waist.

Do you mind posting the dimensions of the 40 jacket for me please? Pit to pit, shoulders, back length, bottom width.

Beautiful jacket and very nice, trim fit on you there! I certainly hope it breaks in (eventually) and gets even better with time.

I had an Enfield and it did not have the Quilted liner. I would have sold if sooner if it had it. That's one of the biggest drawbacks for me to Schott/Vanson modes that I like - most of them have a built-in quilted liner with added insualtion. Like you indicated, I get warm quickly, so if I need insulation, I'll add layers under the jacket. Just a little "rant" but it's caused me to shift my purchases overall. GL with the break-in of this great jacket!

Great jacket!
I had a Japanese slim-fit Enfield that looked a lot like this. I prefer the pointed collar and horizontal chest pocket on yours.

Thanks, that sounds pretty good for me, but maybe the bottom measurement could be a bit bigger. Other than that, the dimensions are spot on for me.

Great jacket, I have an Enfield, a Model E and a Chopper, I think Vanson might be my favorite maker, especially in their comp weight and X(Z?)150. Their jackets are just spot on.

That Vanson Oxford is LOVELY indeed ! I have 3 Vanson offerings in the fleet already , all for the motorcycle.

2 Comet café racers ( one perforated) and a Sturgis

The Oxford is incredibly well priced when compared to famous Euro makers...

Chit ! "Just when I thought I was out , they pulled me back in"..( Sopranos and other popular culture movies)

Very very similar to my recently sold Schott 689HH which was a stock 44" and was, well ,"Neat" on me.
