Oh, man, Mike... With each passing day I get more like my mother, who “sort of“ celebrated her 93rd year with us yesterday. This beautious ’Berg is a Caxton, but my memory said otherwise.

Here is the proof!

Here’s how we partied...

Mom is waving from behind the screen in the upper left window...

You Massachusetts folk sure know how to party.

Wow! I love this, and dated as well. You have the best toys on the block. I wonder how far back the naming of colors goes on Borsalinos. Somehow, the legacy of "bismuto" from 1929 versus my mid 50s bismuto is comforting.
Mike, Thank you! Good question. I am not sure it can be answered without some really old (pre 1920s) examples. (I added something info below.) I doubt the current Borsalino factory has the answer. They have some of the names but not their history. Great looking Lords Hat custom from NW Hatters. I remember when you were working on this commission.

Breathtaking hat. Must be one of your finest, Steve.
Stefan, Thanks! I had no idea if this hat (plus 2 others) would ever arrive. The seller was in poor health (and unstable) but in the end it some how worked out.

Your Mayser "Spezial" today is special. I really like the contrast between the band and binding. Also great form!

Hot and sunny today, and we are heading out to pick up rocks in the pumpkin field. Yeah, baby!! So, it’s the lightest weight, biggest brim hat I own today.. View attachment 236849
Nice man. My pumpkin cotyledons just came up out of the ground yesterday, a few anyway. Vine borers get me every year, the earlier I plant, the bigger the vines are so they can survive any attack I miss.

In a box that was to contain my newest arrival Borsalino was this little number.

This minnow bucket may be to big for my head... but I need to throw this little fish back and wait for this bigger fish to come in.

meanwhile I’ll enjoy the Rogers-Peet (MacLachlan) on what was a violently stormy afternoon of tornado warnings and hail. But has mellowed out nicely to a quiet but very humid evening.

I grow lilies and sugar pumpkins (for pies) at my home and I have a good size vegetable garden at my wife’s mother’s place (nothing compared to a farm) where I grow the bigger ones. Not giants, just jack-o-lantern pumpkins. Pumpkins are one of my favorites to grow, so fast and big. Save a couple to carve up and give the rest away.

Day 21 of 31 Hat Parade: Only 10 more to go, this is getting really hard. Today we feature another bespoke hat from another Hatter here in the Pacific Northwest. We are blessed with the greatest hat makers in the USA out here. Mike Gannon Hats created this large and in charge fedora for me a couple of years ago. Navy colored beaver felt. I had Mike put black and orange (bronze) highlights in the bow as a tribute to my alma mater, Oregon State University. The crown (top dimensions) is a full 6" with a 2 5/8" brim. These lines are an homage to the beautiful hats of the 1950s. It does get some looks out in public, this hat is over the top!

This reminds me of a spate of wearing cooking colanders a few years back. I have some plastic 5 gallon buckets I could model! Great hats, love that Mac a whole bunch Joe.
