For now the private club lounge must remain closed & deserted. I'm wondering it will ever reopen?

Sobering thought. Feel the same about some near me. Holts event with the Don Pepin Garcia family a couple years back. World Cup intensity.

Today a Oliva Monticello box pressed Lonsdale. All Nicaraguan Holts exclusive.

Bars are starting to open here. I haven't been in yet.

Bars will be in the final phase to reopen here. Even restaurants that have bars are not allowed to offer bar seating while they reopen. I'm like you Scooterz, I miss the socializing but I won't be in any hurry to go back in. I'm hopeful the case numbers will make me feel differently by maybe Father's Day or so.

In the past couple of months or more I've probably only enjoyed 2-3 bowls of pipe tobacco on my porch. Just thought it might be a good idea until all this clears.

You might google smoking and covid-19, saw a story a couple of weeks back that said doctors were puzzled that very few smokers are being checked into hospitals with the virus. Don't know if this is still the case but something like only 5% of those hospitalized were smokers at that point. I tend to only remember stories and research that supports my lifestyle though. Like, I only believe the ones that say coffee and alcohol are beneficial in some way. I did have a nica libre 25th anniversary cigar tonight, it was pretty good. Sippin' on a Jim Beam Peach Whiskey right now, you know for medicinal purposes.

I am thinking smoking a cigar is the best 'social distancing' apparatus available....or at least the most enjoyable. Very few people in my neighbourhood want to come close when I am smoking.
I had a wonderful Sunday afternoon....lit up one of my few remaining Monticristo #4 and read a baseball writing anthology.....a truly marvelous way to spend a day. In the absence of baseball, reading about baseball from some of the greatest writers is not a bad second choice. The cigar was a marvel.....all the things I expect from a Cuban but don't always get. Wonderful smooth smoke, well constructed...a perfect burn right down to the nub. I lost he ash about 2/3 through. It was so perfect I took great pains to keep it intact. I have just 4 left from a full humidor about a decade old and I hope they all are as great a smoke as this.

I only smoke pipe tobacco & the occasional cigar, but rarely either anymore it seems. I have enough tins cellared away to last my lifetime at this rate.

Yes I only smoke pipes and cigars. I was cutting back during this event but I may have already had it before it was supposed to be in our part of the country. After hearing all the stories the symptoms were the same including things not tasting the same afterward. I was down for a week until I started using a nettie pot to flush my nasal passages and got an antibiotic. Taste buds are coming back. While some tobaccos and especially cigarette smoke trigger my allergies, a few pipe tobaccos actually help me breathe easier, like a moist heat treatment. That is what got me going with pipes.

I recall reading that is has something to do with the nicotine. For some reason, the virus doesn't like it.

Still slowly working through the box of Romeo y Julieta Churchills that I got for my birthday. Usually about one or two a month, accompanied by two fingers of Glen Garioch 12 YO single malt. Usually I wait til the weather is just right and the day has not been too stressful. Like I said, one or two per month. A treat to myself that I look forward to.

Gettin' ready to smoke a Don Pepin Garcia "Original" Toro Gordo. My tobacconist was open this morning.

I'll have it with some scotch whysky, yo.

Rolled in the good ole USA by the way.

I'd love to buy a few boxes, stash them in a humidor, and let them develop a lot of bloom. Yes sir!

I'm going to have to start using my humidors again.

Cornell & Diehl Small Batch Carolina Red Flake in an Ashton group XX bent apple. I don't get all the fuss about this tobacco; then again I am still searching for a replacement for my favorite McClelland blend (RIP).
