I think that will bounce right back. Nice hats!
Thanks Bob... I was thinking so too. But I figured worst case scenario looks like a nice sweat... deal enough for price paid. I also suspect the 6 3/4 sizing.. might actually be UK size so more of 6 7/8 based on the Original store location. But we shall see. I have some US 6 3/4 that fit me as perfectly as my 7s.

I hinted at this one in the "Waiting For" thread. I was able to win this at an on-line auction, but was even more fortunate to have a "hat buddy" here in the Lounge that was willing to pick it up and ship it (as the auction was "no shipping"). A big thanks to Perry (@hatophile ) for the assist!

Mr. Best (1908 - 1983) was the owner of a silica sand company in Chardon, Ohio. The passing of his son Robert in March of this year most likely allowed the hat to escape the family.

Mr. Best was also a philanthropist.

In that spirit I plan to give this hat to my future son-in-law.

Great job and good tag team, guys! And for $40 under list price!

The seller has this listed as a size 7 1/2 Stetson 100% beaver fedora. I tried to explain that by their own photos it’s a size 7 Dobbs, but the seller insists it’s a 7 1/2 Stetson since that what it says on the box. I’m not going to argue and was just trying to be helpful.

I guess if the hat came in an old box from the meat market, they could sell it as a t-bone steak. Morons.

I recently asked a seller for the size of a Resistol they had listed......
We have heard this before.........
"It is self conforming, self conforming does not go by size":rolleyes::rolleyes:
;);););););)
AND of course they did not feel the need to even give me front to back, side to side interior measurements as those are unnecessary!!:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:
People are funny.....:p:p:p:p:p:p

I’d pay them $5000 if they could show me the way to get every “Self Conforming“ sweatband to fit my head.

Hey guys, I have a question about a hat that I found that I could buy locally. Does anyone have any idea on the date, or what would be a reasonable price to pay?? I know nothing about resistol hats, but it does appear to have an oilskin, I was told the brim is 2 1/2" and crown is 5". I have perused some of the resistol roundup site, but it's a lot of pages. Just thought I'd pop the question in here because it fits the criteria

Very nice looking hat. The brim edge isn’t very clear in the photos, but it almost looks like a felted (Cavanagh) edge. It’s a great hat that I don’t know enough about to speculate on its age, but I can say I’d be making an offer if it was my size. Any chance of better and more detailed photos? The brim treatment was a intriguing.

Beautiful hat! Looks to be a really good one too. Don’t see a Cav edge too Too often on thin ribbon hats. And wide brim resistol fedoras not often either. That liner tip If it is oil skin would have me thinking 50s... But just a guess. Though it could be that older cellophane tip that often turned yellow orangish.
