Another hat that’s too small for me, but too nice to leave. Anyone want to hazard a quest on the dating?

After I get to handle it and evaluate it I’ll put it up for sale.

Well that was definitely a victory. A cavanagh edge, 2 5/8” brim, 5 1/2 crown (when open) oilskin and in really nice shape, although it could use a cleaning, but the sweat is like new. Oddly enough I didn’t see any tags under the sweat, but didn’t look around the liner. I’ll add to the photos if I find any.

Sometimes, especially with those self-conforming sweats, the tag is located behind some additional barrier material which makes up the sweat. It can often be difficult to look behind there, but if your leather is in good shape, it should be fine.

Good looking mid ribbon western, Michael. An underused width in my estimation.

Thanks Bama, yeah I like mid ribbon myself.

I’d bet money it’s a fur felt hat. Looks nice too.

I hope so.

I have two DoubleX OR clones that I like just fine, but I'll leave your query to the expert.

Thanks HJ !

Good looking hat @Michael R. ! I doubt they would mark a wool hat "Hand Creased".

Good Point Bob.

This was really strange, I bid on it, and forgot to check the auction, and never saw an invoice in my email. The wide ribbon Black delivered today, and I thought 'wasn't there another auction?' . So I checked and saw I won. Called and the UPS Store said it would be brought to them Friday, and they would call me for shipping and handling payment. Called the Auction company and they just said yeah I won, and they received payment, and would get it to UPS Store by the end of the week. No invoice ? They didn't take my favorite card, so I got stuck using a back up that I don't check because I don't use it.

From the photos I wasn’t too sure what to make of this Borsalino. It appeared to be quite dirty and figured it as a little project hat to clean up. Along with a moth chewed little Mallory.

What came out of the box though was the thinnest lightest unlined felt hat I’ve had in my hands. Most of the dirt/dust came off with a good brushing. I had my suspicions that the marked size of 6 3/4 was actually UK size based on the original store location being in Gibraltar. And it appears I have guessed correctly. As it fits very nicely.

The Mallory is more exactly what was expected. Though the moth divot on the crown does not go all the way though. It is a small tight 6 3/4 with a super short brim.

The seller has this listed as a size 7 1/2 Stetson 100% beaver fedora. I tried to explain that by their own photos it’s a size 7 Dobbs, but the seller insists it’s a 7 1/2 Stetson since that what it says on the box. I’m not going to argue and was just trying to be helpful.

Exactly. That Resistol that I just picked up was posted on craigslist as a Dobbs in the original box. Well it was a Dobbs box anyways... but I didn't bother telling him different.
