Looks like you made a nice score!!! Good variety!!!! Looks like some may have the matches in them?
I have quite a few myself and I like them best when complete....especially with the illustrated/branded matches.
PLEASE let me know if you would cut loose of that Freeport, Illinois one!!!:rolleyes:;)

And now with some 6 pages and over a hundred posts....time to restate the purpose of this thread....Just in case people missed the first post and introduction to this thread.

"Here is a thread dedicated to OUR (ones you collect and OWN) business cards, ads, photo's and associated ephemera of HATTERS, Cleaners, and Dyers of old (lets say at least more than 30 years old)!!! I will note: MANY hatters offered cleaning services and MANY cleaners offered cleaning and repairing of HATS. Often BOTH also would DYE hats as well (in all cases going to a darker color to cover color loss and stains that cannot be removed, of course black was just re-blacked)!!!!! SO, please feel free to post the associated ephemera YOU ACTUALLY OWN. (lets keep this thread troll and internet image free;))

And just when everyone thought he was a carpenter.........:eek::rolleyes:;)

Here we have a circa 1900 (or earlier) very interesting trade card. It has a "shifting cubes" or "Necker Cubes" optical illusion, it also referances the "swell" hat blocks they can show you (Likely for toppers, as there actually were many heights and shapes hatters used for these hats. Nearby there was a very large silk factory (J.H. & C.K. Eagle Silk Mill ) in the county that would support a good plush and spun silk hatter.......).
Additionally, wonderfully HAND WRITTEN on the back: "New Hats $1.50 Up" and "Old Hats Made Over 1.00". All in all an unusual card for my collection.........:):):):)

His father was the carpenter, wasn't he? Could have made his blocks and flanges for him!
