@dudewuttheheck Yes, I can imagine that Shinki Engineer's would look great, too. As far as I know you already own Viberg's Service Boot Shinki Oiled Horsebutt which do look amazing. How's the leather compared to the Horween leather they use for their boots as I only know this leather? I guess the footbed is more comfy than the standard CXL Service boots. As I usually prefer Italian shoes/boots like MOMA, Pantanetti, Sassetti, Rocco P, Hogan over Red Wing, Viberg (I also like them but Italian shoes/boots are just more comfy and workmanship+construction is also top notch) I'm really digging the Heral Boots as they remind me of classic Italian boots and as I like Shinki leather jackets as you know

I'm still torn whether I really want to spend approx. 1200€ on boots when I can have 3-4 pairs of high quality Italian boots for the same price...

Seems to me that the 3-4 pairs scenario works better, but that Shinki on the Viberg's is ridiculously nice. Glad I could help.

For some reason, my cost-reward analysis for boots is quite different than my process for jackets.

Same to me...it's kinda odd that we spend so much money on leather jackets but won't spend a similar amount for just on pair of boots (an Aero jacket cost me as much as Vibergs...) even if they are also long-lasting and the chance that they fit you in 10 years is 100% whereas you never know if you loose or gain weight.

Owning 3 pairs of shoes/boots around the 1000e mark, and more than 10 pairs around the 300-500e, I have never regretted buying the most expensive ones. If your finances allow it, then I think you should try the Vibergs. Though I personally hate shoes with zippers!
PS - this is exactly my excuse to my gf (and to myself) for buying so many and expensive pairs of shoes: I will be waring them for the coming 20+ years, while in 10 years my beerbelly will probably be double.

We simply find jackets more expensive, don't ask me why. I guess the shoe enthusiast are in a more specialised forum? For my part, I have spent on a few really nice pair, but would rather have more jackets than shoes right now

Outerwear is sort of a separate forum but there a few boots threads in “General Attire...” if someone is looking for inspiration.

The engineer boots thread is quite interesting and a it’s frequented by a few people that regularly post here.

Hop over to the other side guys, while checking out boots you might also stumble across some other interesting threads and before you know it the “woolly pully” becomes your new fixation!

Those are great makers, but they don't fit with my style which is why I buy from brands like Clinch, Role Club, and White Kloud.

Clinch gets close to and White Kloud actually gets to a level of finishing that matches high end dress shoes while still looking like casual boots.

I definitely want some Yohei Fukudas and Hiro Yanagimachi shoes eventually, but they don't fit that well with my current style anyway.

Yeah...no. Plenty of $1500 plus boots floating around TFL.
Last year i doubled the most I ever spent on footwear with a pair of Lofgren engineers. Bought a second pair 5 weeks later. Equally enjoyable aquisition. Maybe more so. Jackets are more temperature dependent and if you wear them inside people give you that “you must be a TF lounger” look. Not so with boots.

I'd gladly pay any amount of money without any regret the moment one of those poser makers releases a good looking harness boot. In horsehide. Boots were my first love when it comes to clothes, long before jackets and jeans but nowadays everyone and their dog and their cat is making an engineer boot or the other one with laces and frankly, I don't even care to spot the difference anymore. I have these really nice Vibergs - they really are great, even got complemented on them on a date - and sure, the jump in quality is obvious but next to even my crappiest harness', they are complete yawn-fest.
Of course, all major fashion houses see the potential and there's been some crazy Harness' boots on the high street fashion market but I'd really like to see a good looking repro. Outside of what Wesco does 'cause they're the only ones right now keeping this style alive.

Yeah I've spent more overall on boots than jackets because as much as I love jackets, you can ALWAYS wear boots. Even when it's hot out, I wear my boots.
