From Sunday morning roughly around 5:45. Camping sunrise in Lone Pine is hard to sleep in through. Tuttle Creek campground and Alabama Hills are back open, just in time for the 100* temps!

Great pics, Ross. Glad to see you guys including Alabama in your travels.

Interesting how the hills got their name and the Kearsarge Pass later on.

Cheers BB, I always was curious about that as well. Maybe something for me to Google later, rather than work LOL.

Great pics. Did your dog just pee on that rock?:D

I wish, then we could claim that as our territory! That’s how it works right? ;)

Morning gang. I received this hat on Friday. I got it from Crappy Cowboy Hats, which is sister site of D Bar J hats. Don’t know if anyone ever tried one of his hats, but I will say I like this one just fine. His regular site has very nice hats and he has a half price sale going on now. This one, as I stated, is a Crappy one in 100% beaver. What that is, is hats that have flaws and he sells for wayyyy less. This one had a small gouge just under the brim. To me barely noticeable. And for what I saved!! Anyway I thought I’d show pics of the way it came and how it looks after a little changing.

The blocking worked out great for what you did with it, Robie!

Yes it did sir. I had been looking at pics while waiting on it to arrive, and trying to decide what I wanted to do to the crown. What I settled on when I started this morning, wasn't quite getting it, so somehow, it morphed into this, and I think it works nicely. And reminds me of John Wayne in Liberty Valance movie.

Your D bar J is certainly nicer felt but it reminds me what can be done when you first study the blocking, like I did with an Akubra Woomera.

This before pic is of Michael R's hat, then mine.

I found an Akubra Territory wanting to copy a hat of Tim's (Alley Kat) hat when I make the time for it. I think the Territory will be a good candidate for something like Tim's.

Nice job on that horseshoe crease. Funny you mention the Territory. I was looking at those yesterday. Good looking hat at a reasonable price.

Thank you! Always wanted to do a horseshoe after seeing this one in some magazine my wife had.

The Territory has a couple of grommets on each side, plus the smaller lower grommet to hook a stampede string. Changing the ribbon will cover the lower grommet; I don't mind the other two being just above the ribbon. I fount my Territory on eBay.

I don't think the grommets really distract me that much. I think it's just that we all grew up watching westerns, and they didn't have them, so it's something we are not used to. I liked the looks of it, and the Mansfield one also.
