I think it is darkening already. Would spraying the surface with water help accelerate the process? At the very least, it would help hide the spot you rubbed on.

I started this thread 2 years ago. Along the way to aging the Campus, I sold it. But I just pulled the trigger on another, brand new from Mister Freedom. Will start the process again and will update it. Plenty of sunshine here. Stay tuned for pictures.

[Jacket newly received 6/26.]

This is my second Mister Freedom Campus. The first Campus—which started this thread—was size 36 and was wearable although slightly too small, so I sold it. This new one is size 38 and makes all the difference in the world.

This is for those who might want to sunbathe an unfinished, natural leather jacket without fuss but don’t have a mannequin:

I wanted to evenly tan my new MF Campus similar to how Mister Freedom pre-tans/pre-ages their special, limited-edition “Sunshine Campus,” which sells for $1,500... and they do it on dozens of mannequins.

For the at-home Project, no mannequin needed. A hanger, some bubble wraps and some grocery bags. Roll and tape bubble wraps onto the hanger. For the “torso,” stuff a paper bag with a couple crumpled paper bags and loop the handles on the hanger. Hang the jacket, stuff the sleeves each with more rolled-up paper bag. And put it in the sun. All very simple, inexpensive and quick (3 minutes).

This gives the unfinished natural hide a more even tan from the sun and is maneuverable to change position through the day.

how's the new one fit? will the sleeves fit a bit long? I'm 5'9'', 135 lbs, and I'm choosing between 36 and 38

The new one at 38 fits me better. The old one at 36 was tight around my chest and shoulders. The sleeves on the new one (38) is a little longer to the first knuckle of my thumbs, but doable for me. As sleeve creases form, the sleeve will ride up a little. I would think the 38 may fit you better at your height of 5’9”. It’s fundamentally designed as a shorter jacket. I’m about 5’7” and the length on this 38 rides well above my back pockets, but still slightly under my belt.

BTW, it is a steal at the current 30% off that Mister Freedom is giving. Now is the time to get an MF Campus, before the discount is lifted along with the social/business restrictions.

You’ll love this jacket. This is the first time I’ve owned a jacket twice. Mister Freedom may run into a little shopping delay, but the jacket is absolutely worth the wait.

I'm looking at this jacekt because I missed the LVC einstein jacket in my size AGAIN!

BTW, is it easy to get dirty or stains?

Yes, but mostly from water or liquid. If you don’t want water stains or blotches, then you’ll need to be careful with anything wet at the beginning when you start tanning it. As you tan it, any water stain becomes less apparent. When the jacket earns a decent amount of patina, then none of this really matters because it becomes a part of the characters on such a cool jacket.

If you haven’t, check out some break-in and treatment procedures for the MF Campus from this blog:
