Enjoyed a couple hats today. Made some shade during our errands today under the Saks Fifth Avenue... it may be 95 degrees here in South Florida.. but this hat is light and airy enough for the job even in this heat.
Then enjoyed knocking around the house in this Adam Hats cap that arrived just today. It is incredibly light weight and breathable. My guess is maybe a cotton/rayon blend. And a silk sweat. This one may get a lot of wear!
It has a tan and white pattern with the odd thin red and bluish-green line here and there
enjoy your Friday evening gents!

Picked up this Adam straw on the cheap a while back for the sole purpose of kiddo and grill duty around the yard:
Kind of a plasticky feel overall with a pronounced taco brim on the front that I haven't attempted to reshape. Mule kicks on the front and back. Cheap cardboard-like sweat. It does have a nice brown three-ply thin ribbon which alone is almost worth what I paid for the hat. May not be the finest nor prettiest straw in the collection, but it's gotten the most wear so far this summer. There's something to be said about a good beater hat.

Hanna Hats made me an 8 Piece Patchwork Linen cap which arrived just in time for a trip to the beach today. I like the variety of Irish Linen colors and textures. The cap is nice and light, and very comfortable.
A pretty small crowd on the beach today, probably a few people from off island, but still pretty quiet for a major holiday weekend and plenty of room for safe social distancing. I'm not complaining.

Dog soiree earl morning had me wearing a vintage Stetson Playboy. The unlined lightweight fedora was just the trick for uncomfortable morning temps. (Our humidity equals the 72'f temp. )

Wearing my latest refurb project. This is a 1950s era 3X Beaver Quality Stetson Western that was gifted to me. It came to me in a very dirty, faded out, and sweaty mess. The person who gave it to me said that this hat had a story to tell. I was going to throw it in a bucket of Naphtha to clean up the staining and the dirt but decided instead to leave some of the "story" intact. I washed it down and got the sweat stains out and left some of the other staining on it for that "worn lived in look". Anyway, it's obvious that the original owner actually worked in this hat. It was badly stained with dirt and sweat. The sweat band was crumbled up and falling off and the original liner was also missing. Its original 3 ply ribbon was still intact as well as its thin ribbon brim binding, (both still remain stained with the working dirt and sweat of the original owner). I took it apart, cleaned it up some and blocked it up a size to a 7 1/4. The hat was definitely worth saving. Even though it was faded from exposure and stained, the felt was still solid.

A nice little surprise. The original manufacturer's label was still intact and I was able to save it:
Washing it up and then onto my Randal Alan block:
Finished, with some of its life history preserved:
Still gotta sew the hat band onto the hat:
