VS Dualist today. The combination of wheat straw crown and felt brim works on my Tropical Island, as the Milan straw seems to hold up better than Toquilla, and when the brim gets floppy I just iron it.

I may enquire of another hatter about a Toquilla-felt combination. Anybody have suggestions?

Jonesy, the subtle difference in tones really set the hat off & brings out the subtle differences in texture. Not a flash & clash kind of dualist. Art was a Master at working textures & colors.

Not an Executive, like you’d think, but an Execution hat. That’s how the eBay seller billed this one. :)
Even had a weird, but untrue story about how this hat was owned by an actress who had both her daughters executed and hats like these were given to people of executions...or something like that. Too weird to remember correctly. Said it was written on the hat box that came with the hat, but there was nothing written on it.
It’s not what sold me the hat.
I knew it was an Executive of unknown size, condition, or even its exact style. (Very poor photos).
$19 and free shipping, in the box, sold it. I wrote the seller telling her that she could up the price for shipping, but she declined my offer. Okay. Turns out, it’s a great hat! And I’m happy to report that no one was executed in the making of its history. Silly sellers. :) View attachment 246014 View attachment 246015 View attachment 246017
Great homburg Randall... and the story with it might make a candidate for the WTF hats. (Not for the hat.. just the WTF story LOL)

Well it proves that whipped hats sell for higher prices than execution hats! Great hat, Randall, but it would have been even better if the execution story was true (to me that is).

I’m enjoying this new arrival Royal Stetson stingy brim. It has a very soft light tan felt and a good solid 2 inch brim And 4 3/4 crown. Wearing this on a very hot day today... the light tan felt actually kept rather cool. No tags inside The sweat other than a return address sticker from previous owner... but I’ll guess late 60s on this one. A very comfortable.. easy to wear hat.

Nice find and two inch is just on the right side of stingy for me. Nice colour as well.

Echter Borsalino "Gatesan" possibly early 1940s to later 1940s. The Felt color is "Elio", and the Ribbon color is "Assab" (Assab, Eritrea, up 1941 under Italian control) . I believe this is the only "Elio" (Italian Given Name) color here on FL. I also believe I have the only two "Gatesan" model hats here on the FL. The "Gatesan" could have been specifically made for the German market. I found this hat back in 2012.

Beautiful hat, Steve. Haven't found any other "gatesan" models than the ones you have, so could well be a specific model for the German market. "Elio" (helium) is a one off as well.

Thanks Stefan.

Both great looking hats, Stefan. The Rogers Peet in the sun is really super.

Agreed. Interesting that just 1/8 inch can make a visual difference on shorter brims on hats around size 7

nice Nutria homburg today.

Stefan, Thank you! Yes this model is outlier but that is what I specialize in. :)

But so do you. Super looking Baronet "Nutria" from you today.
Thank you, Steve.

It certainly does make a difference. I find that the crown shape is important as well to a hat's appearance as stingy or not. Thanks, Joe.
