I'm in Paris for the weekend, trying on the Highway Star. I've already made up my mind but I wonder what you guys think of the fit. This is a size 42, wearing a thin sweater underneath.

It basically fits you like it fits me, the hourglass shape doesn't work cause you are too tall i feel.
IMO the jacket is too short and the larger part of the bottom hem ends up being high towards your waist rather than lower towards your hips.
They both look too wide at the bottom hem, whilst still being tight in the upper portion of the jacket.
The 40 looks too short IMO.

Unfortunately I have to agree with @Carlos840. It's not a good fit for me. I need a size 42 for my chest but the bottom hem is way too wide. Also, you probably can't tell from the pictures but the cuff opening is also very wide.

Apart from the fit, the jacket is absolutely beautiful. It's heavier than the Roadstar and the Californian. They used a different kind of leather. Also vegetable tanned, but this leather is oily and shows beautiful grain. I also like the look of the side tabs as they are in same style as the cuffs. Unfortunately the tabs are for show. I tried setting them tighter but that looks ridiculous. I love the spread collar. One of the best looking collars imo. Same as the elmc californian.

Man I'm disappointed, I had every intention of buying this jacket.

I’m sure you made the right decision. From the photos it looks good to me but I know as well as anyone that photos only tell part of the story and if you were able to resist the temptation then that means it wasn’t meant to be.
Finally we have some real photos of the highway star

I was about to pull the trigger (after half an hour deliberating). Then my girlfriend said: I don't see that look on your face. The look you normally have when you try on a jacket and you know its perfect.

The 42 imho looks fine. I personally don’t like jacket skin tight at the waist as I normally wear my jackets zipped up. That said I can’t help but to think about the Mulholland whenever I see this jacket.

That Roadstar is a perfect fit Mark. Regarding the Highwaystar, I do agree with you, the 42 is close, but there is a bit too much hanging off both sides of the jacket. If you have a medium weight jumper/sweatshirt on, you probably would never notice. The 40 is closer but as you state, too short overall. Do they make a "40-long"?

It is indeed nice to see good photos of them at least. The leather looks great on those, as well as on the Roadstar you own.

No offence to anyone but at some point you need to be able to just decide "I really like the jacket even if the obsessive compulsives don't think its a perfect fit" and wear the jackets you like...the fit is fine, the 42 isn't perfect but it doesn't look "bad" or the wrong size.

Guess I'm an obsessive compulsive cause I just can't understand satisfaction with leather jacket sleeves ending up over the wrists and short body length up over the belt. Seems fine for some fashion catwalks but why not get one that fits to wear out in public? Seems I'm in the minority anymore especially on this forum as many seemed thrilled with that type of fit for some reason, and even exclaim 'that's the way it's suppose to fit'. Oh well..not for me.
