The Bowler or Derby Hat

NICE ONE!!!!!!!!

Thanks Mark!

I really like the lines of this one Bob. Could Clarkson be a department store name? There seems to be a plethora of Derby manufacturers in the early 20th century. Cool one!

Thanks Mike! I searched for a store as well and the only thing I've come up with so far is a "soap opera" type story printed in both the Boston Globe and Buffalo Times in November of 1918 that reference fictional employees of "Clarkson's Department Store".

That is one heck of a beauty, Bob. Suits you and you wear it well, my friend

Picked this beauty up from Jim (@Frunobulax). Looks great, fits great, comfortable wide sweatband ... what's not to love? I'm not finding anything about Clarkson so far. Jim -- did you find anything when you had it?

I didn't look real hard, Bob. You seem to have found out more than I did.

Here's a new one (for me that is).
Borsalino Giorgetto bowler. Brim at 5cm and crown 13cm. Sold as a size 55, but that is not correct. It has a separate size sticker with 7 1/8 on it. Curious because it was not intended for the American market and given the way it fits me I don't think it's an English 7 1/8. Made for JS Meuwsen, one of The Netherlands' largest hat retailers and a manufacturer themselves. Interesting that the crown patch is one piece (both the Borsalino emblem and the retailers' name).
Judging by the label late thirties. A few scuffmarks but aside from that in excellent shape.

I know this thread has a focus on vintage but I just wanted to throw a new custom in the mix to perhaps give us hope that maybe the old styles are not lost forever. A new custom Granite and Charcoal bowler from Mike Miller at Northwest Hats. A smooth hand but a good, stiff felt, too, and a great curl for good measure MyBowler 10.jpg MyBowler4.jpg MyBowler6 R1.jpg MyBowler7.jpg MyBowler8.jpg !

Excellent hat, Randy. Mike Miller did a bang on job on the brim curl.
