O me of little faith. I've posted these here before with the seller's pictures because I did not think I'd ever see them in reality. After close to five months in limbo however, they appeared at the post-office yesterday (had to bail them out). And not a beep out of them about where the hell they've been. Prodigals can get away with anything.

Borsalino Ipersca Turchese. Size 7 with the blind stitched overwelt brim at 6cm and tghe crown at 10,5 at the center dent. Very soft felt that was resisting to behave for the pictures. Wears like a dream though. Very lovely blue colour close to a petrol shade (or so I am told). Anyway after dancing a little jig here it is.

It will work fine for the telescope crease I'm planning for hat #2, but it's definitely not a look I want to have for reblocking/refurbishment. Not to say that I wouldn't consider another of his blocks, because the equipment does the work, but his interpretation of the 51 block is not my favorite.

Cypress felt, vintage "green belly" ribbon from Art's stock. 5 3/4" open crown , 3 1/4" brim. NOS kimono silk liner that I also made. Tip of the hat to Tim at Pure Beaver Hat Supply for the body and sweatband, and Rick of Phoenix Hats for the great hand tools. Art for the ribbon and the custom band block. Also collectively to many Loungers like Terry and Brad Bowers who have shared their hat building knowledge so that I knew what to do in the first place.

When @BobHufford tipped me off to this hat, from just an image of it’s dusty top, he said “This Might be something” I will say with full certainty I believe it is to me anyhow. And I will also give it a little story to go along with it.

The very last conversation I had with my mom before she passed last week... was a simple text from her asking what do you want for your birthday. To which I replied. “Hmm.. I don’t know” I had no idea she was even sick or that this would be our last “conversation” This hat had kind been in limbo with somewhat delayed shipping for a couple weeks... And I really had no idea what to expect I would find. On the day she passed... the day after my birthday... the box With this hat arrived at my door. Now being that my mother is forever known for being late... but NEVER missing anything. I have decided this is the last birthday present from my mom. And WOW is it beautiful! Thank you Mom. I love it! And thank you Bob for playing a part in making this happen.
