Would Someone Please Post Photos of Horween LUX HH in Dark Brown?

I'm waiting for Deborah to get back to me before ordering an SB Vintage Half Belt.

I really like the look of the Horween CXL steerhide in Havana brown, and if I did order the HB in this leather, I would ask for the thinnest and smoothest hide from their stock. I find the Horween LUX in cognac horsehide to be particularly beautiful, but am unsure if dark brown would be a better choice for a jacket I would be wearing regularly in the fall.

Both of the leathers mentioned above have good quality photos posted here on the forum. The Horween LUX in dark brown has a few photos posted in the FL, but the photos weren't all that good... I'd really appreciate it if a member would be so kind as to post a good photo of a jacket in this leather and color.

Thanks!

I have a bundle here. It is very very similar to the Aero Jerky HH, even smells the same. I cannot say for sure if it’s the same as the jerky could come from Italy.

Thanks very much regius and Torstein. I will search for an Aero Jerky HH regius, and click on your link Torstein.
Aero used Jerky HH for the sleeves on this Letterman which might give you an idea-not a great picture though

I received an Email from Steve Toohey a few hours ago, and he too can't find a good photo of the dark brown LUX HH. He did say that he has a new color of HH that he developed with Horween... Here's what he said: "... The other photo is of a new leather we developed from Horween, Milan horsehide Havana brown with is veg tan, this is not as heavy as Lux but a little more rigid but does not require a great deal of break in as its medium weight."

He sent a tiny image, so I'll ask him to get me a really nice image of a finished jacket if he has one tomorrow.

What I discovered today was the Horween Metropolitan. What an amazing leather! It is quite thick, about 2mm. But it feels like your lady’s skin, has a powdery, plush touch, even tempered, doesn’t form sharp folds, and strong.

Hello regius, and thanks for posting photos of these leathers. I assume that you're somehow involved in the garment industry to have access to all those beautiful hides!

I was really intrigued when Steve Toohey sent me a small photo of his new Horween vegetable tanned Milan Cuban brown HH. I asked him to take a large high resolution photo which I'm hoping I will receive today.

I've already planned out exactly how I want my jacket made, and decided on all the options. My only dilemma now is deciding on the hide, which I'll be making today.

Best wishes! :)

Looks like that jacket is the same as the Milan sample I have, getting close to making a decision and its looking like Horween Milan but not sure whether to go for a roadster style jacket or an A2

I figured this is probably a better thread for these questions. I got a bunch of swatches from Simmons Bilt tonight.

The first three to grab me are all Horween: Lux Brown, Milan and Metro. Blattwerk is interesting, but the upcharge is just too steep.

If anyone has good pics of these or first-hand experience, I'd be most grateful. Especially how they age and how thick they are - something that is surprising difficult to compare with the little swatches!!

I'm confused I have Horween Metropolitan DHF mid brown sample in my hand and it is when measured about 1mm thick?

Yes, they are normally thinner but what I was looking at was an odd batch. Also, Horween thickness tends vary. My piece (full side) was mostly very thick and plushy

Just got some samples in for a build I am working on. I'm planning on going with something more midweight, soft, and with quilted lining for colder weather. Really like the metro sample I have, looks to be about 1.1mm. I have the milan and lux here too, I like some of the color options better but they feel more rigid and less of a soft touch to me. Anyone have finished builds in any of these specifically the metro?

I was supposed to get a deerskin sample and that was going to be a contender for soft/pliable yet still strong but that got left out of my package. Also got a CXL burgundy I am considering, slightly thicker and I already have some CXL but I've been wanting some burgundy in my life. Feels a bit thinner than the lux and milan actually, I measured 1.2mm with the lux and milan being around 1.5mm.

Any further input is welcome...what would you go with for a soft cozy jacket? Deerskin, or metro (or just say screw it and get some gorgeous burgundy cxl haha)

The Milan is pretty soft when made into a jacket. It’s also a beautifully rich color. CXL can be thick and takes time to break-in, but it feels pretty good once you have those creases established.

Interesting. Yeah it's very hard with the samples. I remember my badalassi sample feeling a little plasticky but was very nice when made into a jacket. I do have a used CXL halfbelt and have had experience with CXL in the past. Maybe I won't toss out milan out just from the sample yet, but I do really like the sample feel of the metro. Hard when you like the feel of one, but looks of the other.
