Knox Superfine Homburg - Chocolate Brown
5 3/4 Crown
2 inch Copper/brown grosgrain Ribbon
2 1/2 brim front/back - 2 1/4 sides - 5/8 binding

When @BobHufford tipped me off to this hat, from just an image of it’s dusty top, he said “This Might be something” I will say with full certainty I believe it is to me anyhow. And I will also give it a little story to go along with it.

The very last conversation I had with my mom before she passed last week... was a simple text from her asking what do you want for your birthday. To which I replied. “Hmm.. I don’t know” I had no idea she was even sick or that this would be our last “conversation” This hat had kind been in limbo with somewhat delayed shipping for a couple weeks... And I really had no idea what to expect I would find. On the day she passed... the day after my birthday... the box With this hat arrived at my door. Now being that my mother is forever known for being late... but NEVER missing anything. I have decided this is the last birthday present from my mom. And WOW is it beautiful! Thank you Mom. I love it! And thank you Bob for playing a part in making this happen.

My money was on for it to be a Knox. Very distinctive shape and proportions to their homburgs. Very grand. Have to find myself another one of these (the one I had was too large). Beautiful colours.

That might be just about as close to perfection as hats can come, Garrett.

Be safe, be strong and see you on the streets soon, Eric -
Fantatsic hats as usual, Eric. I am quite taken by the way the felt of that Playboy creases!

Bit of a beater. 30s Hückel "Alpha" - can't get enough early velours
Good to see you, Wayne (well, part of you anyway). Couldn't agree more on never having enough early velours.

Temperatures hitting around 33 degrees Celcius here the past week had my brains melting into a puddle. I'm not built for this. For some reason this Panama Legitimo that @Redfokker found me was the go to hat this week.

Yesterday the weather turned around and became bearable. Time for the Borsalino Landasti Misto Ruitor to get its first outing.

It’s 37 degrees over here and I’m barbecuing. Out of interest, I took the temperature in my front yard. 40 degrees in the shade, and when I put the sensor on the shingle in the direct sunlight, I got this...64 degrees! Yes, that is celsius!

I can only respect you ability to deal with those kinds of temperatures. I'm inclined to look for cheap flights to arctic regions when this weather lasts more than three days over here.

I certainly took extra care today...slowed my alcohol intake, drank lots of water & a couple of sports drinks and sucked on salt tablets. People are going down like flies over here with heatstroke. We’re being advised to take our masks off where we can because they contribute to the heatstroke. My wife thinks I’m a nut for barbecuing in this weather, but my answer is Texan Ninja ribs...worth risking your life for!

Thanks Stefan. I really do love it. As you said quite grand... but also enough quirky character to be worn casual.

‘Roo leather for burgers at the pit yesterday - complete with fresh herb and toasted cumin buns cooked on the barbecue. These were so good!
Today it’s the same hat for Texan Ninja ribs - I made a Texas style dry rub and decided this morning to change things up a bit. I dry fried some sansho (literally mountain pepper), ground it up and added it to the rub. Sansho has a pungent fruity flavour and a different kind of spiciness that numbs your mouth and lips.
If they’re as good as I think they’ll be I might have to patent the name & start selling the rub!

I’ll buy the rub.

Now that IS exactly the hat for your very warm weather! Be cool Brent.

This afternoon I have just finished cleaning up after limbs that fell in yesterday evenings strong storms. Chain saw, axe and now using a small hand saw work has me hot and tired. After using the chain saw a new to me Wormser was my "chore hat". This $19.95 Panama hat was totally up to the task. The ribbon work has me cutting, stacking wood and limbs like a "dandy."
