I wouldn't say it is a non-issue, it has nothing to do with how often you adjust them. I have lost 3 side straps over the years because they sometimes catch on things and tear right off, unless held by some additional leather. Not everyone will have that experience - I am clumsy. Nice to do it in case you do.

I am willing to risk it but thanks for the tip.

Locally Perth western Australia made by Sinnika leather goathide "Eastman Luftwaffe exact copy"
Thinking about it is my only "bespoke" jacket , made to my request and requirements at the time in the late 90's.
Still gets dagged out for the occasional airing , having been an "every single day" jacket for many years.
It survived a motorcycle off scenario when a 75 year old catholic priest whacked my Harley Dyna from the left.
I skittled around the tarmac and scored the jacket quite badly. "Fixed" it with Kiwi kids scuff stuff shoe polish.
The priests insurance company "bought" me a new jacket (amongst other things !) after the event.
That was in 2012 when I was 53. This shot taken this morning on the beach at Mullaloo surf club. aged 61 !

I was doing some jacket research and found one of my youtube videos from December '19. Me and all of the jackets are over 50. Too hot to wear much of anything lately so here are a few from Cooler days.

50s Ralphs-Pugh Police Jacket, brown Horsehide, 50s Sears Hercules Horehide Motorcyle jacket, 40s Unlabeled Heavy Horsehide half-belt, Sears Oakbrook steerhide.

Depends completely on the jacket in question. A well-fitted classic style in a colour that flatters you will trump any over-sized shiny suit or poorly cut blazer. If you go around looking as if your a refugee from a Ramones convention or a superannuated goth, then, yeah, that's not going to work.

If California weren’t on fire, I’d be taking a pic in a jacket. Until the heat is controlled, looking forward to seeing more pics here
