Anothe of my favourite pens is my Pilot Capless / Vanishing Point. The experience of writing with a fountain pen, the convenience of one-handed, push-button operation. It only has toe drawbacks - they are not cheap, and the convertor, like the cartridge, holds limited ink. Great as a 'signing' pen, but not an all-day-writer. I'd love it if someone invented something like this with a large, inbuilt ink reservoir, though that may not be possible.

Precisely why I purchased a PenBBS-456 as my next FP platform.
My brass pocket Flex-FP is great for about 1-2 pages of regular writing...not enough for what I want to do with artwork and calligraphy. It holds about 0.7ml of ink.
The PenBBS-456 holds about 1.8ml of ink...more than double. I can doodle and write all day with that.

Edward, it doesn't need inventing, the lever controlled ink bladder did exactly that.
I remember those, although I think they were pretty much phased out by the time I came along. Some of the old school desks had a round recessed area at the top of the desk where the ink bottle would reside. I think they were called, "ink wells."

I was thinknig tghough in specific context of the capless / push-button fountain pens - they are all cartridge / convertor. Not sure if the mechansism would be interefered with with a traditional bladder set-up.

Three Kaweco which i use quite frequently. Two Liliput and one Sport in black anodized Aluminum. Use standard Kaweco cartridges blue, black and red.
The Liliputs to be used along a Filofax Pocket, the Sport is used at the desk.

And just as my Brass Flex Pen build nears completion...the PENBBS-456 arrives.
Still awaiting it's mod parts but I tested the ultra flex nib on it in dip-pen mode....whoooowee it flexes out wider than the #5 nib on my brass pen and is WAY more comfortable in the hand and with over DOUBLE the ink capacity of my brass flex pen with its converter ink-reservoir.
