I'm not a hunter, but as an eater I can highly recommend pheasant - roast pheasant has a flavour I can only describe as being like really good chicken.
I've eaten Pheasant that I've hunted, and I prefer farm raised. Wild pheasant has an unpleasant gaminess to it.

Interesting, I hadn't realised there could be a difference. I expect what I had (at a catered dinner in Lincoln's Inn) was definitely farm-raised. I've eaten grouse which may well have come from a shoot (in Rules - they have their own estate in Scotland which supplies their meat; grouse shoots these days have so many birds driven through, most are left behind and then used in the restaurant trade).
