Those are hats for sure. How about the Shootist? His last movie. His hats and that yellow, plastic Calalin handled Colt were real signatures for JW. The engraved guns in the Shootist were Wayne's personal Great Westerns.

I looked at the web site earlier. Looks like, but hard to be sure that they built any more than the three hats for Costner. The others? Who knows. They mention a few times about making replica's of the cast's hats. Didn't catch where they said they actually built the entire crew's hats. But I could have missed that.

The dugout in the Sni-A-Bar hills where some of the men would winter over still exists but has partially collapsed in. It is strictly off limits to the public & few know where it is.

This is the plantation home that predates the Civil War where the Chiles wedding takes place early in the movie. It is known today as
the Donald Pharis farm purchased in 1927 by Pharis. Still a private residence.

And this is the 18th century woolen mill seen in the movie as the workplace of Jake Roedel's father. The mill retains all its original equipment today.

That was a gooood movie. I really liked that one and wardrobe was period correct.

The lt wt Colt by Hamilton Bowen is one of my favorites. Robb has sold me guns before, but I can't afford the really nice stuff. He lives down the road a piece from me. He actually used to raise beef steers, so the engraved ivory grips are more than just decoration and a copy of an older, classic style.

Here is something I thought was interesting. I just saw this on the third episode of The Munsters, entitled, "A Walk on the Wild Side" (1964). This is actor Barry Kelly wearing a what looks like a Dobb's Gay Prince (or at least a style like it).

I've been watching some old Steve McQueen movies of late. Saw this McQueen Western again this morning about the real life, "Tom Horn". It was McQueen's last movie before he passed away that same year it came out, 1980. A lot of us grew up watching these old film stars and it's still hard to believe that they've been long gone
