Going to Get Jacket Sleeves Tapered

To my eye, the cuffs are not nearly egregiously too wide to necessitate the cost and relatively risky surgery it would take to alter them. Not a knock at all on Alan Johnson or any other of the leather crafters as I'm sure they can do what you request but you can't be certain you will like what you are requesting. Now admittedly, I'm fairly budget minded with my jackets. If you picked up this jacket for $300 used and it wasn't a perfect fit---you'd have some headroom to feel like paying to have it altered would be worth it and you'd still have a reasonable amount invested. But that doesn't appear to have been the case. I'm also not trying to tell you how to spend your money at all. Personally, I just think it looks fine. Pick your battles. If you are in this game long enough, you will certainly run across jackets that could use an alteration more so than this one.

This is a good opportunity for me to work on self improvement though, it’s none of my business...

I picked this jacket new for $500 shipped. So I’m not too deep into my wallet. However, I think I’ve decided to keep the sleeves as is. And I’ll wear it this year and see if I want it tapered in the future.

Good call Zach. The sleeve diameter from shoulder to cuff looks fairly uniform. This might actually be a good thing at the cuff when the time to layer arrives. I’m a bit biased though. Even when I rode my *death proof* chopper...I never closed the sleeves. That’s natures a/c.

Its a nice jacket. I tend to lean heavily toward keeping things original and whether this is your tendency or not, I think you made a good decision. At least give it a chance as is. You can always have it tailored down the road if it really bothers you. If you hang out here much and we rub off on ya I'm betting you pick up another jacket or two or ten that distract from your looking too close at this one.

We will see. That’s usually how I am with footwear. As I have three pairs of Vibergs, 2 onderhoud (one currently being made), a pair of john lofgrens, and a pair of Truman boots.

That has certainly been my experience with jacket alterations. I had a couple A-2s altered and they now fit very well, even so they’re lucky to see a couple days of wear a year.
