My Coastal Command from Aeroleathers has finally arrived.
Why did it become this jacket?
Well, because I've always wanted a shearling jacket and I like the Irvins best. But I'm not a fan of huge collars and somehow I liked the hood better. And besides, it is certainly everything, just not commonplace.
When I ordered the jacket, I looked for a few pictures of it, but found very few.
So here are a few pictures for those who might be looking.

Awesome jacket and a super fit!

And thanks for the Pix. I have been looking at this very jacket for a long time now. Just so special with the hood!
How do you find the sizing as compared to your Aero Cafe Racer?

Thank you for your compliments.
Yes, the jacket will be perfect for the Austrian winter and when it is open it is not too hot: D
I'm very satisfied.

You can't compare the two like that. The Cafe Racer is a size 46 tapered down and actually too big. But based on that and my desired measurements, Holly was able to determine the right size for the Coastal Command. The base is now a 42 with a longer back (28.25"), longer sleeves (29.5") and 4" tapered down.
I'm 6.4 and 200 lbs.

@MrProper First of all congrats from my side. It's a beautiful jacket and fits you perfectly. I didn't know that this one exists. I'm generally not a huge fan of thick shearing jacket except yours!!

Thank you for your kind words.
You may like this jacket better because it is not quite as thick as e.g. a B3. I would say 10-15mm max. is the fur. And that is why it can be certainly used even in the European winter and will be not too hot.

Congratulations and great pics showing off the Costal Command jacket. Couple questions if you don’t mind; for sizing you mentioned that you bought a size 42, what is your chest measurement for a sizing reference? Also for the thickness of the fur, did you specify that you wanted it thinner that a typical Irvin? Thanks again for the pics showing off the jacket

no, I did not order a thinner fur. Holly told me this will be about 15mm.

Wow, thanks a lot! If I go down that road further, I will need to speak to Holly about the right size. I would definitely not want to drown in a jacket like that. It looks like you found the sweet-spot between a good fit for layering without the jacket being to large for just a thin shirt.

Fantastic jacket. I love the variants of the Irvin. The one I have currently is an ELC I bought used years ago in the era when Aero hadn't quite nailed the sleeves.... I know Ken did a lot of work on their Irvin patterns when he came back to the factory in 2012, and it looks fantastic. When I visited the factory in 2014, I remember talking to the staff about an original CC Irvin they had on display, and they told me at that time that they were working on being the first to reproduce it. I love it. The hood switched inside out actually makes for a nice high collar around the back of the neck. I also love the yellow. Many originals I've seen over the years show the marks of someone trying to tone down the yellow with boot polish or whatever, but for me it's an integral part of the design, and I'd no more think of changing that aspect that I would get rid of the orange liner in a mk2 MA1. One of these is on my list as my "next" shearling once I shift a couple more stone.
