Kerr Leather Crosszip

This arrived today off the FedEx truck. It's a jacket that Monitor posted in the finds & deals thread, and since I got it for the intial asking price, I thought, well why not? Intent was a beater/work jacket and this could wind up as that, however it's considerably too large for me, and as the photos will show, we are back to the Torso length situation again here.

In any case, this is a neatly "two toned" faded black Cowhide jacket. Made in USA in a tag size of 46, it is very generous of cut. See the photos below, that is not an issue with the camera or lighting. The jacket has, in most exposed areas, faded to gray. There are still quite a few black areas, such as inside the jacket, under the collar, etc. I realize this may not be to everyone's taste, but check out the photos. Some good detailing here as well.




So how does it fit? Well - that's a different story here...




So it's signifigantly large on me. Almost a 48 level. It will likely hit the classifieds later this week, for a rather modest price. But until then, this is the quickest I have ever taken a jacket to the Washing Machine. It smelled of mildew from a basement. It was all I could bear being outside to wear it for a 45 second photo-op. Even taking the photos of it on the table, the smell was almost over-bearing. Other that than the jacket came in good shape. I hope the washing takes care of the mildew.

So there you have it. There seems to be very little out there on Kerr, it's a simple, straightforward jacket that I hope is a lot better after it's washing.

not terrible.. (although I cant smell it)..
keep it as a work jacket or throw it in the truck for emergency's.. But I suspect that would take away opportunity from wearing the LW you posted today.

Kerr rocks. I had their CR and was surprised how nice it is. This looks like a really sweet jacket, too although it is too big for you, Randy, which is a shame. In any case, I really like it.

Interesting jacket, but definitely far too large for you unfortunately. That's a shame. It probably would have looked cool if it fit.

Yep. Pretty much my thoughts too. Had to try it. Once cleaned, dried and conditioned, I'll get it up for sale.

IMO..too large, too short.

Well the wash and re-oil has done wonders for the old Kerr. Turns out the "fading" was actually more like drying. It's regained quite a bit of the black color. The photos here show it with two application of a spray-type (Lexol) boot product. I need to buy the type the Great Leather sells - I think this jacket needs it. Soon afterwards, I will list it for sale...Still a little gray showing on the LH sleeve but that's gone now too...
