After some Kentucky Fried Chicken & biscuits I rushed home in my VS Playboy clone for some high octane 117 proof Smooth Ambler Old Scout Straight Kentucky Bourbon, served up neat in a 1950's Federal Rumpus Set rocks glass.

Jack that is my Fav hat of yours. It is the one that inspired the hat I wore today, Gannon Playboy clone (blue smoke VS felt), for a morning oil change and then finally back home after 9:45pm and sipping some local hazy IPA, Omni Hazy.

Nothing fancy for dinner other than some popcorn with butter, pepper and a bit of grated Parmigiano Reggiano cheese.

Pheasant “on” the glass, HJ. Love those.
This one is the grouse, BB. They are still easy enough to find sets in the box. Some sets have a platinum ring around the lip. I think I have 3 sets of shots & 2 sets of rocks. Less common are tumblers, & even less common yet are Pilsners & flutes. I probably should look for a set of Pilsners.

I'm glad I commissioned this with Art in 2016 I think. It's a perfect fit, I love the Blue Smoke & everything about it. I have a Stetson Playboy that is a gray with blue undertones & a ribbon that is aqua in most light. I like the VS best. You did a great job with yours, working with Michael too. I've admired it since you got it.

Been carrying the "on-call" down at the hospital for the past 7 days, and after 12 straight days of being there...the last week of which have been 12+ hours...im enjoying myself again. Hats off to @Hurricane Jack And his vintage bar ware with my 1950s Hazel Atlas pheasant hunting shot glass. Hope all y'all have as fine a Friday night as I've got going.

Bob has some of the Atlas shots, maybe two with deer & largemouth bass.

I set out to run an errand, pick up some curbside food & hoped by then rush hr @ the liquor store would be over. No such luck! So still wearing the Worth - Walden I came home empty handed but made it a NBD (New Bottle Day!) by opening a bottle of Cragganmore 12.

I am finally home and spending time walking around outside to clear my mind and relax my sore body. Cool night as I can see my breath when walking around. We had frost last night and snow was on the ground only a couple of hours north of us. The moon is eerie as it is bright and yet passes behind the moving clouds and quickly reappears. Tonight I am enjoying a Founders KBS. This is a bourbon barrel aged stout. It is an Imperial Stout with a big coffee/chocolate/bourbon taste that finishes silky smooth. Truly a grand Stout. For me tonight it is just the single beer as it is an ABV of 12%. I am sipping and savoring the taste. Ahhhh!

Along the lines of grand Stouts, I was looking at a growler menu tonight before making my illfated attempt to go to the liquor store & discovered on tap a Russian Imperial Stout brewed by Firestone Walker Brewing Co. They call it Napa Parabola, @ 11.3% ABV, 61 IBU. They age their Russian Imperial Stout in French Oak wine barrels from Napa Valley. Firestone Walker is located in Paso Robles, CA.

I am sure these have been posted before. I decided not to grab them since I haven't read the reviews on them from whisky advocate yet. Those who have tried them, is it worth $35-$45 with how much great stuff can be found at under $35? I know the name has to be worth a dollar or two.

Along the lines of grand Stouts, I was looking at a growler menu tonight before making my illfated attempt to go to the liquor store & discovered on tap a Russian Imperial Stout brewed by Firestone Walker Brewing Co. Not sure about milk stouts, HJ as the limited number I’ve sampled have not been appealing to me. I’ll give that one a shot if I run across it, though my beer tastes run towards the simple. What I would like to see more of, if and when you have the time is the ribbon and bow profile of that BRE. I haven’t had many opportunities to see something as rare as a WAR BRE and I try to take advantage of doing so at every opportunity. In the appropriate thread, of course.

''Tis the season for Porters & black Stouts. This Nitro Merlin has a thinner head & mouthfeel than the Guinness Draught Stout. Maybe not as naturally sweet; more coffee up front with mild milk chocolate in the after taste. Just 5.5% ABV so the train keep a rollin' all night long!

Back home for a brunch. My liquor shopping excursion today failed as I chose not to walk thru a Black Lives Matter rally/protest in the parking lot of my local store. Drove up and turned for home.

I am back home fixing a brunch and sipping a Deschutes Fresh Hazy IPA. It is a cool Fall day that started with frost and the Deschutes sounded like a good beer for a brunch. Barley, mushroom chicken soup is on the menu. I have some fresh sourdough bread cooling. I love fresh bread, but it meant starting the process at 5:00am this morning to be ready for brunch.

Probably a wise decision. Glad to see another bread baker around here. Is yours a home cultivated sourdough? I bake bread at least 3 times a week and my sourdough’s are my favorite. Enjoy your Sunday Eric.
