Wayward boot tongues

I have a new pair of Beckett Simonon boots that I love.
My problem is that the tongue on the right boot keeps drifting off to the side
which affects the way the boot feels.
Has anyone come up with a solution to this problem?
I thought about cutting a couple of small slices in the tongue that I
could run the laces through, but I am reluctant to do that.

Thanks,
Marko

I have used a leather punch to punch holes in strategic locations on the tongue to put the laces through. Slits in the tongue ought to work as well.

You could have a shoemaker rivet or sew in a small strip of cloth or matching leather to run the laces through.

I have a pair of William Lennon's where the tongue wanders. I cut the two slits to run the laces through and it works fine. Doesn't look wrong or damage the boot.

Thanks for responding. My biggest concern was damaging the boot.
I may try that.

Thanks again,
Marko

could you please upload a photo? I do have the same problem with one of my WL's. Great boots by the way, I own 3 pairs of them.

I’m so glad someone finally posted this question, been a major headache. Mainly happens to my Aldens, several models. I’m worried if I punch two holes in the middle of the tongue to run laces through, am I gonna feel the lace at the top of my instep?
