Im looking to get a replica Rebel without a cause red Windbreaker. I bought a few vintage McGregors and they don't seem to fit me or my size. I am 6'4 and 225. They are all super short on me. So I thought I would see if anyone here has had one made and which company makes a quality repro. Thank you.

Anybody know if Magnoli makes their jackets in NZ? It seems it’s made in Pakistan? My package is being shipped from Pakistan...

Yep, all his items are designed by him in NZ and outsourced in other parts. He basically has an ongoing relationship with a Five Stars style maker and works with them.

He's working with more honourable seller than some, then! ;)

There's a useful thread here with a lot of info:

Loads of versions of the Dean jacket online, from USD50 upwards. You pays your money.... To my eye, most of them are as wrong as those who sell a red Harrington as "the" jacket.... The most common problem is that they make them a matte cotton or poly-cotton gab; the original jacket was, ofcourse, a shiny nylon. Sort of surprised noone (outside of Japan anyhow) is reproducing the original Macgregor jackets anyhow, they'd be nice for a drizzly Summer day.

After a little bit of digging around, I found this page again. Stumbled across it a few years ago when they had a Travis Bickle tanker they sadly no longer seem to offer... but there is this:

Looks like the best repop of Jimmy Dean's I've ever seen, even the dark liner (not the original Macgregor white) is correct. Price is USD169, which seems about right for this high level of detail and correctness compared to generic, cotton copies. I'll be interested to hear about your experience if you do order one, as I'm leaning that way myself.

I think you may be on to something here. All of the reproductions I have seen screw up either the fabric (cotton not nylon), the pockets or the collar. This one seems to hit the major points.

So I’m selling my re-dyed red original McGregor Antifreeze on greedbay.- see classifieds on TFL

Nice score! Not nylon maybe, but if you're just looking for 'ballpark' for the look, this is likely going to be a much better option for Summer / hot weather wear.

I am very tempted to spring for a Max Cady once I sell enough old stuff to avoid the (deserved, to be fair) disapproval of a Higher Power.

Right there with you. I have two pairs of boots and one jacket I’ve been eyeing for ages. They would get me to basically exit level. Just come here to see other people’s stuff. But the higher power says no, not unless my last pair of boots and jacket listed here sell. No more. If I add anything stuff has to go out. I should just give in and list them on grailed and/or eBay. But I really hate their process ha. Rather have two people make a sale/trade honorably here on TFL. Now I’m rambling. Damn higher powers.
