What was the last TV show you watched?

Assuming you're referring to Schitt's Creek and not Godless, my wife and I agree. We tried to watch it earlier in the week but barely got through the first episode. Normally I'd view a few more episodes just to give a show a chance, but we were both so unimpressed that I decided I didn't want to give the show a chance.
Yes, we have not tried out Godless as yet but we are clear that Schitt's Creek is unwatchable. Most Canadian productions are not watchable but this is just bad, plain bad.

I wish I would have stopped Dexter at the end of Season 4. Between Seasons 4 and 5 they changed showrunners, the new ones didn't seem to know anything about the show, and the end result was that seasons 5 through 8 ranged from bad to worse, culminating in one of the worst final episodes in television history. I've read Showtime is going to produce another half-season--essentially 10 episodes--with the original showrunner in an effort to give the fans a proper ending to the series. I personally think it'll be a case of "too little, too late" and probably won't bother to watch. We'll see.

Well, it did what no other comedy, not MASH, not Frasier, not even Friends, did, which is sweep its category at the Emmys.

Not bad for a show that is just bad, plain bad:

Or maybe, to paraphrase the Dude, that's like, your opinion, man...

I mistyped.......we have watched Godless. Really liked it, even M Dockery, that looked way tooo purdy for a frontier gal.

Really enjoyed "Godless" and, agreed, my girlfriend and I commented that Ms. Dockery's fair skin and fine bones were not really built for frontier life, but hey, TV shows gotta have their good looking people in them.

We started "The Queen's Gambit" the other night. Very good so far - story, acting and the period details are all well done.

I'm most of the way through The Queen's Gambit, just one episode left, and agree the period details are very good, and Anya Taylor-Joy is excellent (she's been on my radar since The VVitch). However, it exhibits classic Netflix bloat: seven episodes with about five episodes worth of story.

I liked Godless too, for the most part.

Some interesting stuff recently. Walking Dead World's End is growing on me. I binge-watched season one of The Alienist last weekend, and rather enjoyed it (better than Ripper Street, not quite as good as Peak Blinders). While set, from memory, some three decades later, it had, to my mind, something of the Gangs of New York atmosphere about it. Mad Men I never found the time to fit in all those years ago when it was on television, but with access to it on Prime I'm now rewatching it properly rather than catching odd episodes. I'm loving the look of it all (not least the reminder that the Sixties, that Killer of Men's Fashion, didn't really kick off until about 1963). I always enjoyed the home sets with that very mid-century styling, but what is particularly standing out to me this tiem round is how contemporary the office sets look, in that people aside if you stuck a few computers in here and there (and removed the drinks!) they really don't look that much different from many corporate offices nowadays.

Watched the first episode of the TV show redux of High Fidelity last night. While the film's transfer to the US from the original London setting in the book worked much better, to my surprise, than expected, I'm not so convinced that the gender-switch of the lead from male to female works. Nick Hornby's wirting originally was a perfect encapsulation of the male approach to hobbies, music in particular, and that is lost here. The music referred to also feels a bit....off. Too mainstream for the spirit of the original, which wa all about the obscurity? Or were Fleetwood Mac unknown and obscure in the US rather than mainstream as here? I'll give it a go beyond the first episode to see if it improves, but so far I'm unconvinced. I think a better case could have been made, artistically, for a TV show version that was truer to the book especially in setting.

I saw the trailer for it and took an instant dislike to the lead character so it has slipped down my 'to watch' list.....but I will check it out. I have Netflix, Prime and now Masterpiece so my TV world is much toooo large right now.

Murdoch Mysteries, and every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday they have a marathon. Once I found out about this I have made sure I can make time to be available to watch. That is not always the case as life does happen and unavoidable delays need tending to at times.

And Archie Bunker's Place, I actually like this show better then All In The Family.

Did I mention we're starting out with The Murdoch Mysteries, courtesy of Acorn (I think it's on Hulu as well).
Period detective series, set in Great War era in Toronto. Clever plot twists keep us watching.

You can also check your local free public library to see if they have Murdoch Mysteries
available to borrow on DVD or through their digital online services.

In 2004 Murdoch Mysteries began with the Murdoch Mysteries movies and there was a different Murdoch in the roll, in 2008 Yannick Bisson took over the roll when it became a tv series. And this year they are filming for their 14th session.

And one of my favorite lines from the show is how they call finger prints, finger marks.

There is also the book series which began in 1997, and of course the books are different from the tv show.
Except the Dying (1997)
Under the Dragon's Tail (1998)
Poor Tom is Cold (2001)
Let Loose the Dogs (2003)
Night's Child (2005)
Vices of My Blood (2006)
A Journeyman to Grief (2007)
Shipwreck (2010)
Let Darkness Bury the Dead (2017)

Interesting - a different Murdoch in the original telefilms? It might be worth watching. Bisson is indelibly Murdoch for us.
We're only up to season 4, and enjoy them very much - 10 more years of MM will provide lots of top notch mysteries.
Correction: I identified the setting as the Great War, circa 1914 or thereabouts, but I realize now it is, I think, in the 1890s. I'm open to correction.

Yes, and I have yet to view the movies my self. Its kind of like what happened with Hercule Poirot, there was another actor before the man who is known as Hercule Poirot from the tv series.

The series began in the 1890s the invention age and now according to Yannick Bisson they are now in the year 1905. Here is a recent interview Yannick did: https://soundcloud.com/briouxtv/episode-14-yannick-bisson

Barbarians, a new Netflix entry from Germany about the lead-up to the ambush of three Roman legions in the Teutoborg Forest in 9AD by a coalition of Germanic tribes. An interesting fictional take on a very interesting part of history that shaped the Europe we have today.

This is on my "next" list. I have watched all I can of Vikings on Netflix, and have finished all there is of The Last Kingdom, so I need more action-packed history.

The final book in the The Last Kingdom series is out, War Lord. I enjoy the show a lot but the books are brilliant! I've put it on my list for Christmas. If only the clothing in the series was a bit less "Game of Thrones' and a bit more authentic (don't get me started on the sword slung across Uhtred's back!):

I'm still eager to see the next season when it comes out though!
