You are a better man than me, Eric. When I tried to read it I think I barely got thru the first book; aren't there 10-11 books? My attention span was spent & I was drawn in other but similar directions, I think. But I can see where the theme of Paradise Lost still carries thru & is an influence on many artistic people to this day.
My dad was in the Pacific theater & on Okinawa in WWII & he used to talk about cheap Awamori. Drafted at 18, it was a right of passage for many American boys away from home for the first time.
