Make sure your bobbin is unwinding in the correct direction. (Thread should come off the bottom from right to left). Set your thread tension and presser foot tension on a scrap of similar thickness. Don’t start stitching with thread tails flapping in the breeze, use a leader! You should be good to go. Actually, I suppose for a brim binding, you’ll have to start ON the work so a leader won’t help. There’s another trick, a little hard to describe. PM me if you want me to explain it brother.

Thank you buddy. I'll pm you. I do pretty good with the hand sewing but it definitely gets tiresome.

Late to the table today. Spent the day working on setting up my new "He-Shed" my wife let me build. Well, actually, I had it constructed by our fence contractor, but it was an indulgence. For a run to Home Depot I dressed down into work clothes with my beater Stephen L. Stetson stingy. Love the feel of this hat, so casual, bullet proof and an interesting story. Original Carter sweat band, great liner tip logo and ribbon replacement by Mike Miller a couple of years ago. It has been posted in the beater thread a while back. Need a new beater...

She’d came out great Mike. That sure is a fine beater there. The Stephen L Stetson story is a cool one.

Looks great! How many hats can you fit in there?
I just built a shed too! I am so excited to be a new homeowner, but I have to fold my side mirrors in to get my car in the garage, so no room for the lawnmower, etc.!

I have had one of these on my wish list for a while now. Great color and lines Dave!

My He-Shed is still just for garden stuff. I took over the back bedroom years ago for hats and now have squatter's rights on the property. The shed is 4X12 because it is on the south side of our home. It is built like a small house, so I'm very happy with it. I have been parking both cars in our garage since the day we moved in (2001). Moving the yard tools into this space will allow me to have room for more "car stuff" on the sides of my garage. Still love that green Derby!

Akubra Slouch I received yesterday from David Morgan. Great people, first one was too large (my fault) mailed it back and received correct size all within five days counting the weekend. Shape inspired by ANZAC troops in WWII jungle combat. I made hat band of waxed hemp cord.9

I’ve been wearing this Habig to work every day. The kids and other teachers have grown accustomed to it and I get fewer comments now. But every time I wear it with this suit, I get compliments again. The suit itself is nothing special. It’s one I got about 10kgs ago, so the fit isn’t great. I guess the colours just work.
