Yes, there will be some darkening of the Cognac with wear and exposure! We don't have any Hektors in production in the Cuoio Buffalo (that's the light tan color of the Buffalo), but this is available as a custom order.

I took the plunge and signed up for a Thedi jacket through Thurston.

Does anyone have any experience with Thedi's horsehide versus their buffalo leather? I have never owned anything made of buffalo leather, so I'm a little hesitant. How does buffalo leather wear and how resistant is it to the elements? And, is there a difference in the weight?

I'm debating between these two different styles: MTC-127996 vs a button-up shawl / cossack style jacket. Likely in a light to medium brown.

Thedi's buffalo is great. Not thin by any means but comfortable to wear. It has a bees wax finish that is quite durable. Great leather IMO.
