Thanks Alan. My eye sees some green in the hat and a bit of bronze in the ribbon, but I can't make the camera see it that way. But it is a nice dark tone, whatever the color.

It's a puzzling wrinkle. When I view my post in Google Chrome I see the same reference for the URL - the image does not display in the post. If I click on the icon and select open in a new tab or in a new window, the image displays fine. And it all works as normal in Safari. I'm guessing it's an incompatibility of the Lounge software with Google Chrome on Mac... but who knows. Just another excuse to make the day a little harder than it should be. 8^(

Thanks, Michael. The jacket is a goat suede number from Orvis. They opened a store two doors down from my office, so it's always tempting to walk through when they have a sale or when the seasons change. My buddies go there for their flyfishing stuff. I go there for clothes.

Orvis next door would probably end badly for me. They have/had some very nice items in a clothing way. i have a few of them.

The 50x beaver felt is what I would consider medium weight and is certainly malleable as I had to lower the crown some from its original configuration. It has a dimensional brim 2 5/8 front to back and 2 3/8 on the sides and has a nice feel and snap. It's a fun hat.

No, my sweatband stitching isn’t really patented. But I haven’t seen anyone else doing it and have to wonder why?

The week of autumn colors is over, in reality the hats stuck in a container are finished.
I selected another one and thought I'd call this week, as my friend Steve says, the one with pre-shaped hats (machine formed hat)

I have seen some horrible and also beautiful ones. European industry has churned out millions of various shapes and qualities and some of them even excellent

Let's start with an Italian hat, probably made about forty years ago in Monza

Gold Star "Lepre Garantita" size 60.
The felt is of medium consistency with a short fur and the shape has been lightly machine made, with a little steam it takes other shapes

The color is light gray with contrasting black ribbon, excellent quality finishes. New, it is a warehouse stock.
